What, isn't tom cruise supposed to be like 5"3?

people who play in sandboxes tend to be very short, not sure their perspective is best

I think I was about 5'5" until my junior/senior year of high school, and some part of my brain still expects me to be shorter than most people. So, I feel you, people who are shorter.

yeah same here, i was 5'3" at the end of my sophomore year and came back junior year like 5'7". i'm 6'-6'1" now and still think everyone is taller than me even though in reality i'm at least a few inches over most of them.

I would have guessed Bardem near 6 even!

Bards is reported at 5'11" or 6 ft lots of places online. Not gonna lie tbh, being 6ft tall is pretty f'in cool.
― LIKE If you are against racism (omar little), Saturday, 22 December 2012 04:24 (eleven years ago) link

― mh, Saturday, 22 December 2012 05:18 (eleven years ago) link
I'm 5'11". It's a pretty sweet height tbh
― fiscal cliff huxtable (latebloomer), Saturday, 22 December 2012 09:08 (eleven years ago) link
6' to 6'2" seems fairly ideal to me. trust me, anything above that and life becomes needlessly complicated.

I'm 5'11" but by brother is 6'4"-6'5" so everyone thinks I'm quite short. Everyone I've met from the Netherlands is at least 7 feet tall.

I'm comfortable enough being able to hide stuff in the top cabinet while also being able to go up in the McDonalds Playland with my kid when no one else is around.
Dad's 5'7". Mom's barely 5'0". I can't complain about being 182.245 cm tall.
(Even in metric, my height is stupid.)
― pplains, Saturday, 22 December 2012 17:25 (eleven years ago) link
i don't mind being short tbh

I'm 6'4 and don't really feel I can pull off being this tall, I think I'd like to look more inconspicuous. I tend to stoop and hunch, but I think that maybe just makes being tall more noticeable?
― soref, Saturday, 14 June 2014 19:28 (nine years ago) link
today I was dismissed in my cricket match by a dude who was possibly 3'0". He got 4 wickets and his team won
that said, once you're a dwarf there's a different sort of stigma, which it might be easier to own (idk, risky ground here)
― Who whom kissed? (imago), Saturday, 14 June 2014 19:34 (nine years ago) link
I'd like to be about 4" taller.
― Jeff, Saturday, 14 June 2014 19:40 (nine years ago) link
after I was done growing I spent three years dating a woman easily two inches taller than me who insisted she was at most six foot two so I was like hm guess i never did make six foot
like a month after we broke up i had to have a checkup and the nurse was like dude you're six foot one why did you write five eleven on the form

From my observations during my time as a corporate whore, I have concluded that women in senior corporate management are disproportionately:
--super tall--super smart--super mean
or some combination thereof. I must have gotten by on just the first. Getting shorter, though--last measurement clocked in at 5'10'', so I don't think I can get away with saying I am "just under 6 feet" anymore.

A couple of months ago, I was at a party with the current Object Of My Obsessions, and although I studiously avoided him all evening, I found I had to walk past him to leave. So of course, as I did, I kinda checked him out a bit. And as I was creepily studying him, I was thinking to myself "y'know, he's not as short as I was lead to believe; his head is nearly level with mine." Then I almost tripped over something, looked down and realised he was standing on a step above me.
Still almost unspeakably hott, though.

maybe this should be in the ask treesh thread but why do u think u 'feel' tall if u 'know' you are of average height? is there ideology involved?

i'm the same height and feel v. average. walking to the subway there was this group of cologned football coach looking dudes who were all really tall; made me feel short and also wonder if they choose their friends according to height. all of them must've been around 6'2"
― clouds, Monday, 8 September 2014 00:43 (nine years ago) link

― nakh is the wintour of our diss content (darraghmac), Monday, 8 September 2014 01:13 (nine years ago) link
Nakh, it has to do with the fact that if you take women into account, 5'10" is taller than like 70% of people. If you take children and the elderly, the number jumps even higher. Also I'm the tallest person in my immediate family by a significant margin
― Treeship, Monday, 8 September 2014 03:02 (nine years ago) link
alright. that makes sense. introducing children into the equation really shifts the whole conceptual paradigm in a way i didn't anticipate. still think there might be ideology involved somewhere though.

Same height, but I rarely feel like a particularly tall person. This is probably half down to proportions and half down to terrible posture.
