It was a typo but it looks like a cranky hitler, haha!

Any beauty regimen that involves heating up metal objects and placing them near hair just does not sound worth it to me. That and over thinking are two forces possibly keeping me from cas sex experiences.

peacocks, Thursday, 24 June 2010 18:42 (thirteen years ago) link

I don't mind hot objects near my hair, it can't feel anything anyway. Not a big fan of potentially scorching my eyeballs, though.

Agree w just1ne re the other thing.

"leave the party while you're still having fun" applies here in spades

I think that unless you are also poly or are really seriously considering adopting the lifestyle, it's kind of a dead end to date a poly guy, even if he is lovely. There are so many issues to navigate if you want any chance of doing this without getting your feelings hurt, you know? It's kind of exhausting. Plus also, I think for a lot of guys (maybe not him, but pretty much every "monogamy is bogus, I am poly!" guy I have ever had any romantic interactions with), it's not about really believing in the poly lifestyle. It's just about getting as much no-strings-attached tail as possible.

sinister chemical wisdom (Jenny), Thursday, 24 June 2010 20:15 (thirteen years ago) link

well, you can say that for a lot of guys - poly or not - it's just about getting as much no-strings-attached tail as possible.

sarahel, Thursday, 24 June 2010 20:28 (thirteen years ago) link

Of course, but with the poly thing, the guy in question can cloak his garden-variety horniness in some sort of lofty ideology, which is what I object to more, to be honest.

sinister chemical wisdom (Jenny), Thursday, 24 June 2010 20:39 (thirteen years ago) link

honestly i have never met one of these people
do they tell you they're poly like, "there's something you should know about me..." or just like "hey i am in a polygamous relationship whatev"

guess it depends on the person, but i don't recall ever being told this in my life

an outlet to express the dark invocations of (La Lechera), Thursday, 24 June 2010 20:50 (thirteen years ago) link

well, for me, it came up when he started kissing me, and i said, "wait, what? You have a girlfriend." And he said, "We have an open relationship."

sarahel, Thursday, 24 June 2010 20:57 (thirteen years ago) link

It was a long time ago, obv, but once after the moves were on and the guy was like, "Monogamy is just a tool to oppress the masses. I have a girlfriend! Let's bone!" and once after the boning was done and the guy was like, "So... I have a girlfriend but it's an open relationship so I know she'll be cool with it."

sinister chemical wisdom (Jenny), Thursday, 24 June 2010 21:01 (thirteen years ago) link

oh, in my case it was the open relationship was the girlfriend's idea

sarahel, Thursday, 24 June 2010 21:02 (thirteen years ago) link

Like it was for real or the dude was just telling you that it was his girlfriend's idea?

sinister chemical wisdom (Jenny), Thursday, 24 June 2010 21:03 (thirteen years ago) link

it was for real - it was her idea - because of that i came to believe that "open relationship" really meant, "You're not really doing it for me, but I don't want to break up with you just yet."

sarahel, Thursday, 24 June 2010 21:06 (thirteen years ago) link

i know one guy that's poly. he has a ldr with a girl who lives with her boyfriend, and then has fun from time to time with other ppl. i don't understand it, but it works for him, and he's a good guy.

i couldn't imagine dating someone who was poly. it would be way too much of a mindfuck for me, even if it was casual.

(i'm in the agreeing with justine camp)

JuliaA, Thursday, 24 June 2010 21:08 (thirteen years ago) link

huh
yeah it's not like i haven't gotten the wrong impression or been misled in the (distant) past, but no one has ever been so up front with me about it. i guess ultimately it's better than lying, right? all depends on what people are looking for.

an outlet to express the dark invocations of (La Lechera), Thursday, 24 June 2010 21:12 (thirteen years ago) link

pretty much everything is better than lying.

sarahel, Thursday, 24 June 2010 21:13 (thirteen years ago) link

^^^^^^this

quincie, Thursday, 24 June 2010 22:02 (thirteen years ago) link

Yeah in this instance im not worried for *now* because heck this is just casual shit and its only been going on 2 weeks and you know.

Its not a complete miserable wtf thing - it would be if this was a "hey I am married but we're all open and you can be my sidekick" - thats just weird. This is prob closer to "casual date seeing a few ppl" for both of us, but thats fine.

they changed the package design on Clairol Herbal Essences shampoo - now the bottle is easier to open.

sarahel, Wednesday, 7 July 2010 18:06 (thirteen years ago) link

i remember us discussing that before and thanks god. i hurt my cuticles on that bottle 100x

*thank

i once asked a dude friend what the greatest possible turn on in a woman was in his opinion, and his answer was "smelling like herbal essences." he went on to say that it "practically causes instant orgasm"

ps the dude was hot

in other hot news

how about this world cup

roxymuzak, Wednesday, 7 July 2010 18:09 (thirteen years ago) link

i switched to Pantene, but i'm really not completely satisfied.

and speaking of hair issues, David Duchovny had the best hair in Season 1 of X-files, and in later seasons it was not as cute.

sarahel, Wednesday, 7 July 2010 18:10 (thirteen years ago) link

ha, i have a guy turned on by the smell of herbal essences shampoo/conditioner, but i can't post it here, i'd have to tell in private.

sarahel, Wednesday, 7 July 2010 18:11 (thirteen years ago) link

Shrug. Lyfe. Recommended the Instead cup to a friend the other day, to solve a vacation-timing-related problem.

Haven't tried the IUD insert again with the Cytotec for dilation. Kind of putting it off tbh b/c I don't want to hear that I'm out of options.

Dying of heatstroke, waiting out the World Cup with great anticipation.

i really want an IUD, but i dont want potential resultant problems

ENBB knows other details of the herbal essences guy saga, but not that part.

sarahel, Wednesday, 7 July 2010 18:20 (thirteen years ago) link

YES! I was hoping that it was part of that saga tbh.

doubt that he reads this thread, but still ...

sarahel, Wednesday, 7 July 2010 18:23 (thirteen years ago) link

i would also like an iud, but i am pleased to report that i have had zero migraines since going off of hormonal bc, so that's a good thing.

what else. sad that i will be in roxy country while she is in chicago, but excited to go hiking and see nature. enjoyed world cup more before my team (mexico) was eliminated. sweaty. haven't thought about herbal essences since the 90s, but i do miss the old smell of pantene. new pantene isn't the same. i also regret throwing away my old shampoo archive. would smell again :(

thanks god
99% of my students say this when they mean "thank god" (gracias a dios, etc). "i thought i lost my USB but it was in my purse, thanks god."

an outlet to express the dark invocations of (La Lechera), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 18:23 (thirteen years ago) link

would the translation be "thanks to god"?

sarahel, Wednesday, 7 July 2010 18:24 (thirteen years ago) link

shampoo archive??

omg watching piotr hottie atm! ty again for the hottie recommendation, e

roxymuzak, Wednesday, 7 July 2010 18:25 (thirteen years ago) link

yeah, but they know to drop the preposition. they just keep plural thanks. just in case?

yeah, i had a little sad hoarder collection of old shampoos i used to use just in case they were discontinued and i wanted to smell them again. they were all discontinued/scents were changed and now i will never smell those smells again. it really does make me sad. nothing brings back memories like shampoo.

old pert plus, for example. also white rain with the red top and strawberry suave.

an outlet to express the dark invocations of (La Lechera), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 18:26 (thirteen years ago) link

oh man, and this other one i forget the name of, but it was in a yellow bottle and i used it when i was in colombia. now i will never smell it again. ;_;

an outlet to express the dark invocations of (La Lechera), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 18:27 (thirteen years ago) link

strawberry suave was great! i think my ex-bf used that for a while.

sarahel, Wednesday, 7 July 2010 18:28 (thirteen years ago) link

x-post to Roxy - You're welcome!

That said, I just noticed that he looks really small compared to the other guys and looked it up he's only 5'6". Sort of a bummer.

I use TIGI oatmeal and honey shampoo and conditioner. It smells like oatmeal raisin and cinnamon cookies. I'm not normally one for food scents but it is so good.

o sh!t a ˁ˚ᴥ˚ˀ (ENBB), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 18:29 (thirteen years ago) link

the other day i was having post leg-shaving itchiness and thought of this thread.

sarahel, Wednesday, 7 July 2010 18:29 (thirteen years ago) link

pert plus still exists, but it doesn't smell like it did when i used it and that is a shame
i also had a little bit of the original lever 2000, which smelled really good

i'm glad someone remembers strawberry suave RIP

an outlet to express the dark invocations of (La Lechera), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 18:30 (thirteen years ago) link

LL, I think a Jewish person I know says "thanks God", and I've always just mentally filled it in as "thanks be to G-d" or whatever -- basically I assume it's in translation and therefore doesn't bear the burden of making any literal sense.

I am always tempted to try this just because I love the bottle so much:
