I wanted to do a supergroup called Lordy, Lordi, Lorde featuring Eurovision winners Lordi and, uh, Lorde, but I don't think I ever came up with an act for the first name.
An actor portraying Lord Emsworth, or "Lord E" can do Vivian Stanshall style monologues while Lordi and Lorde provide atmospherics.

I once had a similar concept with Miley Cyrus, Milli Vanilli, and Miles Davis

I was trying to devise some inverse 12-tone composition theory where you can use whatever notes you want but you must play them forever in infinite combinations of temporal subdivisions

brimstead, Wednesday, 24 May 2023 20:10 (three years ago)

Dave Mustaine may have been unknowingly using that system for the last decade

wacky updates to 12-tone composition seem like a good use for AI tbh

this is quite terrible but: how about if we reverse Julian May’s novel the many colored land and add some reverse jubilee flavor: say a portal appears in 1982 London, it takes a bunch of uncouth punks to the Galactic Millieu in the future where they horrify everyone there with their uncouth manners and body odor and completely ruin the stuffy vibe there; hijinks ensue

it is indeed yeah

I admit it's a terrible idea

sometimes a random old thread I've not bookmarked is revived with lots of interesting chatter, I've the fear of missing out

corrs unplugged, Monday, 10 July 2023 11:32 (two years ago)

If you were the sort of person that Davud Brooks would describe as a "bourgeois bohemian" and someone were to try to monetize your fear of missing out by offering you access to two exciting threads for the price of one, that might be termed BOBO FOMO BOGO.

Then Styx could write a song about it, the refrain of which might begin "domo arigato..."

two weeks pass...

A classic rock cover band that throws in additional words and beats to the measure of songs so that listeners experience a disruption of the cathartic anthemic choruses. For example

Take me down to the Paradise City/Where the grass is emerald green and the girls are pretty

Whoa, we're fifty percent of the way there/Whoa-oh, livin' on a prayer

Any way that you want it/That is the way you need it

peace, man, Monday, 7 August 2023 12:28 (two years ago)

I like that idea and I feel like you could really take the disruption/denial to an extreme, like time it to exactly the most climactic moments of the chorus and make the melody kind of trail off for a couple of beats.

Ha, I was just thinking about something like this.

We don't need any indoctrination.
We don't need any thought control.

pplains, Monday, 7 August 2023 13:12 (two years ago)

No indoctrination in the classroom.

pplains, Monday, 7 August 2023 13:12 (two years ago)

I love that idea, it's so very Andy Kaufman

linoleum gallagher (Neanderthal), Monday, 7 August 2023 13:27 (two years ago)

I like this idea. Sounds a bit like Robert Smith or Bob Dylan altering timing just to keep people from singing along.

For a while I used to do a bluegrass "Watchtower" with things like "an unspecified number of riders was approaching."

Also used to do "stop, homies, what's that sound" and "stop, motherfuckers, what's that sound."

to make Bingo more of a skill-based game than purely a 'paying attention' game, some modifications that can be made:

1) You cannot call Bingo by merely shouting Bingo. You instead have to fart audibly so that the Bingo host can hear you.
2) All of the Bingo numbers are read out back to back in 30 seconds by an extremely fast talking person, and you record the ones you (think you) heard and then shout Bingo if you have it.
3) Bingo numbers are presented as algebra problems ("B 17+6. B square root of 144. N 7 times 4")
4) Bingo is never played again ever.

earosmith (Neanderthal), Wednesday, 16 August 2023 15:04 (two years ago)

3) those are arithmetic problems. algebra would be something like B-17=6. thank you for loving my post.
