there is quite a line to get away from the table let me tell you what!

Whenever a sentence starts "Look, the bottom line is," you KNOW you're in for a treat

Everything is Highlighted (Hurting 2), Sunday, 5 October 2008 18:34 (seventeen years ago)

lol i have a class where there are lots of these "challenging opinions" thrown around and nervous white guys constantly be going "look i don't mean to sound controversial" and "not being racist here i mean i have a black best friend" and "this might offend some of the more sensitive people" before they say something totally wrong

lil yawne (harbl), Sunday, 5 October 2008 18:39 (seventeen years ago)

"Look, I'm sorry but," == my queue to get up and leave the dinner table around 4pm on Christmas day as Dad is about to challenge opinions.

Apologizing for something you're about to say is a waterfall of bullshit.

my bf's dad is, i think, the king of challenging opinions

Don't really know where to put this, this'll do as well as anywhere I suppose:

She is a Madonna version that can sing, make actually good songs instead of monkeying whatever is trendy, is slender and shapely instead of stocky, giant handed and heavy chinned, and on top of all, knows how to actually dance.

No wonder she is listened by people of good taste while Madonna is remains basically as an icon for old and fat effeminate men.

Oops, sorry, it's a youtube comment on a Mylène Farmer video.

Spelling capitalism with a 'K' is merely faux-Marxian affectation, on a par with 'Kandy Korn'.

kind of a sidebar: is it just me, or are thread titles with all the words capitalized, like a book title, an indication that the thread starter thinks they're saying something really amazing and/or important?

it's self-conscious here, but illustrates the concept

metametadata (n/a), Monday, 20 October 2008 15:53 (seventeen years ago)

happens on ILM in particular, like someone thinks their stupid thread is like a thesis

Why are Metallica doing so well in these lists? It's not that great people. Just because it's better than St Anger does not make it a great album.
