Reviving just because I can't get something out of my thoughts...
I watch YouTube while eating lunch or whatever, and to no one's surprise I like gardening content. Was watching a "These crops feed us all year long" kind of video and the wife and husband were working hard out in a field planting stuff, and the man says, "My wife wants to go inside and eat but I told her we have food right here, so she can have some green beans and keep working." Cut to the woman's face while she dutifully puts a bean in her mouth and tries to smile, and the man says "Actually we've already harvested these fields but there's still some left" and the video moves on and nothing more is said about it.
Girl. He hates you. Like HATES YOU hates you. He doesn't want her to have rest or relief, she's already thin but he denies her sustenance, denies her bodily autonomy, and is actively punishing her. The leavings that no one else wanted to take are good enough for her.
I'm torn between "pls leave your kink off camera," and knowing that kink requires consent and this is just misogyny. This is on a different level than regular nuclear family patriarchy "I'm so fulfilled by growing food for my family" play-acting. It was so gratuitously cruel and performative. It keeps coming back to me a week later.
