Benson bit me. He’s been having some behavioral problems the last few months (aggression when he’s tired) and on Tuesday morning he bit me in the face and I had to go to the ER and wound up with two stitches right through my top lip. I am so heartbroken. Going to contact a doggy therapist tomorrow but I’m really afraid this is age related and isn’t going to get better. This guy has been my source of comfort through so much the last few years and I’m beside myself. I am afraid to even let him sleep on or near me now. :(

Yes. I think it’s honestly a combo of doggie PTSD and age but it just sucks and my fucking mouth hurts! After he did it I felt with my tongue and my upper lip was split in half. The little bugger only has like 7 teeth left! I just really hope the behavioral therapist can offer some solutions.

so sorry to hear that. my little guy and i do a fair amount of play-fighting, and he likes to bite my nose. i never worry about him really biting me, but he's getting older too, and the thought has crossed my mind - what would i do next if he actually bit me?

Aw, V hopefully he never will. I grew up with dogs and plenty got older than B and I’ve never experienced this before. I do think this is a combo of doggie PTSD and old age. I cried on the phone to my therapist about it today, “But he’s my *sniff* little *sniff* cuddle buddy!” :/

my friends/family have had experience with dog old age and dementia-type symptoms and that is definitely an option. not a given that it’d work, but worth trying. he’s your little dude, he’s just in a different place in life
