<3 short ones

ledriver, Sunday, 15 June 2014 00:33 (twelve years ago)

I am beginning to suspect, due to my recent few years' worth of crushes, that I might actually have a preference for short dudes.

From my observations during my time as a corporate whore, I have concluded that women in senior corporate management are disproportionately:

--super tall
--super smart
--super mean

or some combination thereof. I must have gotten by on just the first. Getting shorter, though--last measurement clocked in at 5'10'', so I don't think I can get away with saying I am "just under 6 feet" anymore.

A couple of months ago, I was at a party with the current Object Of My Obsessions, and although I studiously avoided him all evening, I found I had to walk past him to leave. So of course, as I did, I kinda checked him out a bit. And as I was creepily studying him, I was thinking to myself "y'know, he's not as short as I was lead to believe; his head is nearly level with mine." Then I almost tripped over something, looked down and realised he was standing on a step above me.

Still almost unspeakably hott, though.

Shugazi (Branwell with an N), Sunday, 7 September 2014 09:48 (eleven years ago)

(I guess, as if being short isn't bad enough, you have to be subject to Branwell's unspeakable lusts. I am so, so sorry to make this worse for you, attractive short dudes of the Earth.)

I'm 5'10 1/2" and feel "tall" usually, even though I know this is average.

maybe this should be in the ask treesh thread but why do u think u 'feel' tall if u 'know' you are of average height? is there ideology involved?

white

flatizza (harbl), Monday, 8 September 2014 00:39 (eleven years ago)

i'm the same height and feel v. average. walking to the subway there was this group of cologned football coach looking dudes who were all really tall; made me feel short and also wonder if they choose their friends according to height. all of them must've been around 6'2"

clouds, Monday, 8 September 2014 00:43 (eleven years ago)

that's around my height. that or an inch taller

markers, Monday, 8 September 2014 01:01 (eleven years ago)

I'm avg but stand hunched cos of having an enormous head I reckon

nakh is the wintour of our diss content (darraghmac), Monday, 8 September 2014 01:13 (eleven years ago)

Nakh, it has to do with the fact that if you take women into account, 5'10" is taller than like 70% of people. If you take children and the elderly, the number jumps even higher. Also I'm the tallest person in my immediate family by a significant margin

Treeship, Monday, 8 September 2014 03:02 (eleven years ago)

alright. that makes sense. introducing children into the equation really shifts the whole conceptual paradigm in a way i didn't anticipate. still think there might be ideology involved somewhere though.

Markers is tall and I always forget that. I think every time we've met I've been surprised and asked how tall he is again.

Same height, but I rarely feel like a particularly tall person. This is probably half down to proportions and half down to terrible posture.

monoprix à dimanche (dog latin), Monday, 8 September 2014 15:01 (eleven years ago)

i went to the store today and the fancy soda i wanted and went specifically to this store to get was on the top shelf so far up that i couldn't have reached it even if i jumped. and jumping/grabbing the soda was not an option. there was nowhere to climb either. i was standing there staring at it wondering what to do when a tall person walked around the corner into the aisle and i asked for help.

this is what being a short person is like
it wasn't a big deal, but i did need to go out of my way to ask for help

Otm. On the other hand, our shoes are not feats of engineering the size of boats, and that's nice.

Rand McNulty (Jon Lewis), Monday, 8 September 2014 20:06 (eleven years ago)

Haha, aaawww, LL. I am the kind of person that people always ask for help reaching stuff in the supermarket. (And, OK, yes, I usually volunteer if I see little old ladies staring in a pining manner at tins on the top shelf.)

I occasionally hang out with these two Scottish girls who are both about 6'. It makes me feel short, which is kind of funny.

Shugazi (Branwell with an N), Monday, 8 September 2014 20:11 (eleven years ago)

I love it when people ask for my help reaching stuff! It is nice for one's height to be useful rather than just a pain of the ass when shopping for pants.

mom tossed in kimchee (quincie), Monday, 8 September 2014 20:30 (eleven years ago)

i love it too. i was in the law library the other day and the librarian was helping me with a question and she was like "but i need you to get that for me" and i felt so heroic.

it is hard finding shirts though, the sleeves are almost always too long

Is that a MAGA cap he's wearing? Asking for a friend.

And I'm 5ft 9, does that qualify me as a perfidious female height supremacist?

the problem with this man is that garishly wide tie with the full windsor knot

big tie knots are indicative of barbaric temperament, it's true. top button undone... it's rich in abominable details
