emm the movie wasn't shit. Crowe did a bangup job in both Yuma, this movie, and of course The Insider several years ago.

NOt as good as the Scorcese adaptations of Pileggi's screenplays but what the hell is?

get real, bo. this whole film seemed like a half-arsed vehicle for crowe to get an oscar - the thin boring backstory (he's an honest cop, yay! but a bad husband, boo. *such* a complex character.). he has this really off-putting way of rushing and stumbling through a film, huffing and puffing like the odds are stacked against him - someone just stick a t shirt on him saying "i am the downtrodden GOOD GUY" and be done with it.

what was the incident(s) that prompted this

oh just some minor pavement etiquette stuff while i was out running, the usual cunty swaggering down the pavement trying to physically impose themselves on the public space and not moving an inch to let me past, nearly ended up shoving me into the road and looked flabbergasted that i'd dare call him out

more a culmination of witnessing countless similar behaviours though, physical and psychological, directed at both me and others (p sure every woman you know experiences this a thousand times as much)

(and that was p minor as far as these things go but i certainly put it on the same spectrum as random public heckling, homophobic or not, which is another thing i make a point of giving back as hard as i get)

next time just sweep his legs and run off imo

lol the last of my very infrequent irl hardman episodes involved bodychecking someone into the street and swearing at a group of terribly serious middle aged joggers who took up the entire width of the pavement and seemingly expected anyone walking in the opposite direction to step into the street while they passed

it always astounds me how many people out there are apparently incapable of being considerate users of pavements

One time I was on the brooklyn bridge and there was a family of tourists standing in the bike lane taking photos and this bike guy was whizzing down the bridge. Instead of slowing down, he just yells angrily and scoldingly NO! NO!

this is me with sidewalk bikers, who are ruining it for the rest of us. i wont budge.

or cars driving on the sidewalk

i occasionally commute by bike across the brooklyn bridge and the oblivious tourist stuff gets old real fast

it's really not hard to be considerate when you are the tourist yourself! standing in a bike lane is just...why would you do that. and i don't cycle, i usually encounter cyclists as the breachers of etiquette (either pavement cyclists or the eternal cyclists vs runners hostility - i once witnessed a cyclist on a towpath plough straight into another runner, knocking her to the ground, and he didn't even acknowledge her let alone apologise)
