He looks like a combination of cute boys but I can't really think of which ones right now.
I bought a yarn project bag made from the Christmas version fabric of that pad.
You can get fireman and cowboy fabric, too!!

At first I was like oh this is interesting about giving the little girl and voice and all . . . oh but wait she's just telling all the boyz how much she loves them now. Awesome. ._. I totally had Poochie stuff. What the hell was Poochie anyway? Why is this ad bothering me so much? Can I go home now please?
― go to party leather (ENBB), Friday, 11 January 2013 16:00 (eleven years ago) link
Wow. That ad contains multitudes.
― carl agatha, Friday, 11 January 2013 16:01 (eleven years ago) link
RIGHT?!
― go to party leather (ENBB), Friday, 11 January 2013 16:02 (eleven years ago) link
xp and the subtext that a girl can say what she feels as long as she dresses it up in socially acceptable femininity, or that a girl can say what she feels as long as what she feels coincides with a pre-printed Poochie stamp. So in that way, it's telling girls to express their feelings, but only if their feelings are appropriate per this consumer item.
Also LOL at how the girl in the ad looks twice as old as the boy.
I vaguely remember Poochie, but I can't remember whether I had any Poochie swag.
― carl agatha, Friday, 11 January 2013 16:04 (eleven years ago) link
Yep to all that. And yeah why does the boy look so little? It's creepy in so many ways.
― go to party leather (ENBB), Friday, 11 January 2013 16:05 (eleven years ago) link
I think I had the Poochie doll and some of the stationary stuff too. Apparently there was a Poochie movie but I do not remember that at all. I probably just liked it because it was a dog and pink tbh.
― go to party leather (ENBB), Friday, 11 January 2013 16:06 (eleven years ago) link
A dog wearing sunglasses, even! If Poochie wasn't such a bossy, feelings-policing little shit, she'd be pretty cool.

I know I had Poochie merch as a kid but I can't for the life of me remember what it was
But I have a feeling it was the notepad and stamp. "If it wasn't for Poochie I would never have been able to tell boys that they're cute. Thanks Poochie!'

One of the women killed in this morning’s courthouse shooting was Christine Belford, a 39-year-old woman who was involved in a bitter custody dispute with her ex-husband, law enforcement and legal sources said.Belford was at the center of a court fight with her ex-husband, David T. Matusiewicz, who kidnapped his three young daughters in August 2007 and took them on an 18-month odyssey to Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico and Nicaragua. In March 2009, authorities discovered Matusiewicz, his mother Lenore and the girls – then ages ages, 4, 6, and 7, one of whom is autistic -- living in a dirty and cramped trailer.

THE MAN KIDNAPPED HIS DAUGHTERS FOR TWO YEARS AND TOOK THEM TO LIVE IN A TRAILER IN PANAMA despite one of them needing medical/psych care, which presumably she was not getting. After being caught and doing time for that and for bank fraud, apparently he fell far enough behind in child support that he was due for a court visit to discuss it. Well, not anymore, because today David's FATHER went to the courthouse and shot Christine Belford (and another woman).

I can't distill want I want to say about this into a coherent post. Something about women's bodies and fertility and who controls those things, and the comparatively small number of men who feel entitled to those things and cheated when they don't control them, and how bitter and final their vengeance is when they've been thwarted.

Also something about the vast majority of women homicide victims being killed by male family members (or ex-family members).
"the comparatively small number of men who feel entitled to those things and cheated when they don't control them, and how bitter and final their vengeance is when they've been thwarted."
Die in a fire, men's rights movement.
(Also, I posted this on the Chicago thread (because I did not expect anyone to be talking about this anywhere else), but Wilmington DE's chief of police was at a gun control round table with Joe Biden in Philadelphia when this happened.)

i guess the current fashion for MRA rhetoric has made it seem like a new legitimacy is being given to such men's sense of entitlement over their offspring? even if the only "legitimacy" is that of a vocal hardcore, who can make the link to the question of individual liberty because the state tends to not be on their side.
― bantz a make her dance (c sharp major), Monday, 11 February 2013 19:56 (eleven years ago) link
I think the MRA stuff is obviously a backlash to the world changing toward incrementally greater parity for women, which is where the world should keep right on going, but the death throes of each stage are so explosively violent and damaging.

One monk, whom Ms. Stubbs said she told about the touching, was unsympathetic. “He believed in Roshi’s style, that sexualizing was teaching for particular women,” Ms. Stubbs said. The monk’s theory, common in Mr. Sasaki’s circle, was that such physicality could check a woman’s overly strong ego.

It seems to be the kind of thing that, you get the person as a whole, good and bad, just like you marry somebody and you get their strengths and wonderful qualities as well as their weaknesses.
You know, like how when you're assaulted, you get both the good AND bad qualities of your assailant!
