Damn, this thread moves fast when I'm at work and can't answer.

I know the subject has moved on, but there was a throwaway comment up there that did kinda make me think, about the weird cognitive tricks that the mind plays on you, with regards to ageing.

Because it's funny, Blur *don't* look really young to me, on this thread. They look like, well, Blur. And I get the same thing when I look at pictures over the years of Thom Yorke - I can usually tell what year it is by his haircut, but I don't usually think "he looks really young there" even in the ones where he's like, 22. (OK, there's one where he's 15 that I think "jailbait... but still would.) I feel like I'm the age that I was when I first saw that photo, and he is about my age.

But then, with other actors posted on this thread, who are the same sort of age, I think "jesus christ, how can you perve over him, that is an CHILDE!"

But I think it doesn't happen with Blur and Radiohead, because I've been following them for 20 years, and they have kind of aged along with me. The same way that when I look at photos of my family from, like, 1985, I don't think "oh god we're all children" I just think "oh that's my cousin, I remember that Christmas."

Am I the only one that gets that? Does that particular cognitive trick only really work on people that you have been looking at (or looking at pictures at) continually for the whole of the aging process?

p.s. I don't like that porn star at all myself, but compared to what straight-porn dudes usually look like, yes, vast improvement.

ok so i watched river's edge again. exceeded my expectations tbh. i had forgotten that keanu (1) was so angry (the scene where he gets interrogated by the police is great, you've got FOOD EATER!)and (2) them moral center of the movie, aided by the stunning Ione Skye, who basically every hip young lady with long hair tries to look like now, amirite?

i had also forgotten the DOUBLE down by the river stories (John's and Feck's) and how they talked about it, and wondered if people recognized this as a classic murder ballad plot back when the movie came out, or?

also the music was great. the end.
