hmm I don't think I've done 9 this year but I have def done 10, might split the baby at 9:30, see how it feels, go to 9:15 if everything's cool

i really do hate lawyer shows, and the lawyery parts of shows i like are the worst parts to me. like how i hated the prosecutor on the wire. but maybe in part because it is a prosecutor, how do they sleep at night? i have never watched law and order, btw

oh man did this come PRE-dsk?? i thought it was their DSK episode!

it was fantastic, i thought--not just the rape storyline, which was so smart and well-handled, but the whole thing--chris noth with her phone in the ballroom, dan rydells' date. one of the best of the series.

otm, that's my favorite episode of the whole damn thing

i am 95% sure it happened shortly before D S-K but i could be misremembering

harbl you might like the good wife, its all about saying FU to the state's attorney/prosecutors in general

seriously it was like a high-wire act, i kept watching it waiting for them to fumble the sexual assault, because its tv and no one knows how to handle sexual assault, and they basically kept it up the whole way through

ok maybe i will watch it one day. in the show are they all annoying goody-goodies who tell half-truths all day & think mj is a big deal

it's literally the only episode of tv i've ever seen that dealt with the difficulties of pursuing a rape case well.

"the good wife" character is "good" but everyone else is hella ~suspect~

the main character can be an annoying goody-goody and i think sometimes lies to herself with half-truths. who is mj? michael jackson is totally a big deal!!!

lol guys today i watched a trial that went on way too long and probably cost the state so much money over the course of the whole thing that i have to tell you about. there was a loud party complaint and the cops came and when the door opened it was like an explosion of marijuana smoke so they were like can i search your house and the guy was like "nah" so they entered anyway (this was ruled to be ok because obviously this was an emergency, exigent circumstances) and held everyone while they waited for the warrant. then they searched and found all this paraphernalia and stuff, but i don't think anyone was charged with possessing any actual drugs just paraphernalia, which is only a $500 fine, no jail. and one of the cops testified i searched this and this bedroom, but i did not search bedroom 2, because there was a snake in that bedroom. then when the trial was over we made fun of him for being afraid of snakes. he was like, "yeah it turned out it was a little snake but to me it was like an anaconda."

this would be such a good episode of the good wife, alicia would be so sympathetic toward the defendant and then archie panjabi would find out something secret about the snake and the judge would be quirky and then theyd win

yeah no one wanted to plead guilty because there would be no point, if you lose nothing bad happens. everyone lost but the one guy with a bad record got a $150 fine. the trial took over 2 hours!

i mean that's the worst anyone got, $150

ive been spending a lot of time in housing court lately, i find it really fun, well some of its depressing, but the whole culture/work environment of the thing is kind of fascinating, so many characters

when i was in college i used to volunteer with a domestic violence shelter and accompanied the court advocate to family court sometimes. family court is so depressing.

i think family court is probably more depressing than housing court. housing court in brooklyn seems to mostly just be landlords suing bodegas/auto body shops

harbl I went to bad at 9:45 yesterday and I had a really good rest, maybe the best in a week

tonight it's obivously too late to do that again but I would like to in the future

yeah i have been trying to do that all week but i think it was 10 last night. i love to sleep.

yeah I think sleep is maybe #3 or 4 in my list of priorities, a bad night's sleep can really wreck me

I didn't sleep too well last night probably because I got excited before I went to bed I probably shouldn't do that
