You guys there was a staff meeting today. We are building a NEW CULTURE here at the Doubletree. We have a new mission statement: people visit our hotel because they have a dream, and it is our mission to help turn their sweet dreams into remarkable realities.

To reflect this new culture we will be using a new names for familiar areas of the hotel. These areas, btw, will now be known as REALITY ENHANCING ZONES.

The REALITY ENHANCING ZONES include:

--The Fitness Center, now to be referred to as the PERSONAL REALITY ENHANCEMENT CENTER

--The Business Center, now to be referred to as the WORK REALITY ACHIEVEMENT CENTER

--Guest Rooms (where they sleep), now to be referred to as DREAM CHAMBERS

--The Breakfest Buffet, now to be referred to as the MORNING REALITY JUMPSTART PROGRAM

--Housekeepers will be referred to as DREAM CHAMBERMAIDS

--Guest Service Reps like myself will now be DREAM WEAVERS

I was bitching at my boss last week about how shitty this all is and "goddammit can't they wait a month to dump more bullshit on me I'm in some real shit in my real life right now I ain't need to be worrying about losing my job because I forgot to mention that we turn sweet dreams into remarkable fucking realities"

But it hit me today--this is the perfect time for this to come down the pipe. I'm rebooting my whole goddamn life right now, why shouldn't I reevaluate my attitude towards my work and my workplace? I hate my job and I hate where I work? Why the fuck shouldn't I dive the fuck in and help transform this into a place where I want to work? I want to be able to hit up service industry night at some shitty club and tell a dude I work at the Doubletree on MLK and for him to say "Oh I hear that place is dope!" And

No, after two years of jackhammering, I don't really have it in me to bring my game at 11. It sounds ridiculous to say this but this is really the most emotionally taxing job I've ever had: having to maintain cordiality in the face of daily verbal abuse has just been killing me, and my ex used to wonder why I would just come home from work and open a beer and fall asleep.

I'm sick of that. So fuck it. Yes I am in. I want to make this a better place to work and I will wear a fucking spacesuit if that gets me there. It's corny and stupid and I am fucking IN.
