if i was in this class my mix would be an hour of chopped & screwed music just to be a total troll

pop the s1ock (J0rdan S.), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 05:02 (fifteen years ago)

my prof was a world renowned harpsichordist (?) and linguistic philosopher and made this painful effort to head nod and groove with everything that was played, it was hilarious and terribly embarrassing all at once.

O_o-O_0-o_O (jjjusten), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 05:08 (fifteen years ago)

haha welll my teacher in class yesterday was like "wow, these mixes are really...different from other years!!" and was doing this horrible face mask smile, brave-face-putting-on type thing and nodding furiously

from what my musicology friend said and that^ i think maybe now that the class has no pre-req its just got an influx of dumbasses or w/e

☠ (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 06:31 (fifteen years ago)

☠ (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 17:53 (fifteen years ago)

just kind of a jumble of some of my fave songs tbh. i really like the way the first 3 songs flow together, after that just said fuck it and threw them on there, its not like anyone will listen to them all the way through anyway tbh

☠ (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 17:54 (fifteen years ago)

did you get the mbuti pygmy thing from milton p?

sarahel, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 17:54 (fifteen years ago)

no, i got into it after reading turnbull's "forest people", ituri rainforest is an interest of mine - hope to do some work there someday (its kinda my life's ultimate goal tbh)

☠ (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 18:00 (fifteen years ago)

☠ (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 18:03 (fifteen years ago)

nah - to be a total troll, you'd probably do a mix of something like Bruce Haack's children's record

sarahel, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 18:05 (fifteen years ago)

LOL

☠ (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 18:08 (fifteen years ago)

it's actually really great -- the chorus about tool use reminds me a little of the song "Teenage Enema Nurses in Bondage"

sarahel, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 18:10 (fifteen years ago)

mix five is great, get that person to post here

goole, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 18:12 (fifteen years ago)

bruce haack's children's records would show up on my actual mix CD, even before I read these last few posts.

richard melville hell (crüt), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 18:12 (fifteen years ago)

Is this an undergrad class? Kinda dread to think of what mix I'd have made at 19/20/21.

Anyway this thread is amazing.

Gravel Puzzleworth, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 18:14 (fifteen years ago)

maybe a companion "what would yr musicology mix cd look like" thread would be interesting

9 >>>>>>>>>> 5 > the rest

old man yells at poop first thing in the morning (pixel farmer), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 18:26 (fifteen years ago)

goole, Wednesday, 23 February 2011 18:33 (fifteen years ago)

Samuel (a hoy hoy), Wednesday, 23 February 2011 19:04 (fifteen years ago)

banjee trillness (The Reverend), Thursday, 24 February 2011 02:38 (fifteen years ago)

this is kinda a lot of 'work' isn't it? I mean it's gonna be what, 20 hours of listening? are you guys getting a lot of credit for it?

iatee, Thursday, 24 February 2011 02:43 (fifteen years ago)

it's 20% of our grade and we have forever to get it done

☠ (roxymuzak), Thursday, 24 February 2011 17:01 (fifteen years ago)

I keep wanting to read this as "music cds from my mixology class"

administratieve blunder (unregistered), Thursday, 24 February 2011 20:53 (fifteen years ago)

disappointed in roxy for crediting "Crazy Train" to Black Sabbath

richard melville hell (crüt), Thursday, 24 February 2011 21:51 (fifteen years ago)

In 6th grade music class we all had to pick one song to play for the class and say somthing about; I picked "Still Of The Night" by Whitesnake
