p.s. if you're reading this, NME: Starsailor and The Strokes = Rubbish.
Speaking of which, where were Starsailor in your 2001 Review of the Year feature? Especially the opening article where you say how boring 'bloke rock' was, citing The Verve, Travis, Coldplay and, er, Shack, and thank God, then, for The Strokes "reviving" music. WHAT ABOUT STARSAILOR??? Y'know, the band you didn't fucking shut up about all fucking year, saying how they were the great, white hope for British music and all that crap that your readers had to put up with? Are you now trying to wash your hands of them, now you've come over all 'Let's ROCK!' Just pretend they never happened, eh? You twunts.

it's like a whole new handy way of not actually having to explain why you disagree with something! it's a "that's gay" for the 00s!

jeremy waters, Sunday, 1 June 2008 00:44 (eighteen years ago)

except with less causal homophobia

No, it's a "you're completely oblivious to your own ridiculousness. lol." for the 00s.

BIG HOOS aka the steendriver, Sunday, 1 June 2008 07:49 (eighteen years ago)

right, a "that's gay" for the 90s

max, Sunday, 1 June 2008 08:03 (eighteen years ago)

No, "jeremy" is right, everybody should spend 10 minutes typing out a detailed rebuttal to every shtoopid "HEY GUYZ I'VE JUST DISCOVRED THAT YOU'RE FAVOURITE BAND SUXX" challop on ILM.

Noodle Vague, Sunday, 1 June 2008 11:46 (eighteen years ago)

who is jeremy waters

roxymuzak, Sunday, 1 June 2008 15:53 (eighteen years ago)

Either a sock puppet for somebody who's already been kicked out for bringing the challops, or a whole exciting new challoper in the hood.

Noodle Vague, Sunday, 1 June 2008 16:00 (eighteen years ago)

i don't think my ops are particularly chall.

jeremy waters, Sunday, 1 June 2008 16:25 (eighteen years ago)

That's for this thread to decide.

Noodle Vague, Sunday, 1 June 2008 16:29 (eighteen years ago)

Hang on, one of these this week is gonna turn out to be Quitney, isn't it?

Noodle Vague, Sunday, 1 June 2008 16:31 (eighteen years ago)

I just want to remark that I love the tempering of the challops of new posters on ILX. It's like "your bullshit may have gotten you through university, but welcome to grad school motherfucker". It sort of stings at first but really it's for their own good (and I say this as someone who's had a few challops along the way, including now).

(btw: sorry for posting on this board if I'm not welcome; I use site new answers)

Euler, Sunday, 1 June 2008 16:43 (eighteen years ago)

Came here just to see if jeremy waters was starring in a new challoportunity.

libcrypt, Sunday, 1 June 2008 18:20 (eighteen years ago)

I've just realised that "jeremy waters" is actually "max r"/"pc user", and feel quite foolish.

Dom Passantino, Sunday, 1 June 2008 19:24 (eighteen years ago)

Are these two events somehow related?

libcrypt, Sunday, 1 June 2008 19:25 (eighteen years ago)

maybe a straight-up 2step banger would be interesting from him... or some pure drone stuff

Given that Britpop was fundamentally rubbish while everything Luke Haines does is genius, he is probably not its godfather.

The stickman from the hilarious "xkcd" comics, Sunday, 8 June 2008 15:56 (eighteen years ago)

Amidst all the buzz about a black American's chance to become the next US President, let's consider an even more remarkable achievement: a black American is currently poised to revitalise Enka, the genre of trad balladry post-war Japan liked to get drunk and sentimental listening to. The man in question is 26 year-old Jerome White Junior, raised in Pittsburgh. In Japan they just call him Jero.
