billion holla baby (roxymuzak), Monday, 19 April 2010 01:22 (sixteen years ago)

ij, that happened to one of my brothers once!! He fell asleep on the sofa near a new Christmas tree that had just been brought in from outside and common wisdom is that the heat of indoors hatched the eggs and some babies bit him(?). He was in the hosp for several weeks while doctors tried to figure out what "infection" he had -- they almost took out his eye on the rationale that the infection might spread to the other one!! Thank all that's holy my dad refused to consent.

Ask foreigners and they will tell you the gospel comes from America. (Laurel), Monday, 19 April 2010 01:37 (sixteen years ago)

- painful tightness in both sides of my jaw, often moving up into my head. also clicks.

- squawking noise involuntarily emitted from my throat. random timing. often in stressful situations. kind of sounds like a parrot burping.

just1n3, Monday, 19 April 2010 01:42 (sixteen years ago)

how do you know you are not a parrot?

screamin' lord sufj (unregistered), Monday, 19 April 2010 02:57 (sixteen years ago)

when I yawn I have trouble closing my mouth again without popping my jaw back into place. sometimes I'm afraid I'll be unable to close my mouth and I'll have to walk around wiht my mouth open forever.

^this

roxymuzak, Monday, 26 April 2010 04:11 (sixteen years ago)

I used to get that trouble, and also my jaw would get stuck closed and I'd have to punch myself in the jaw to unlock it. Now it's not so bad, although it does go "pop" while eating food that requires a lot of chewing. I've never had it checked out by a doctor, buy it might be worth doing, particularly if you grind your teeth in your sleep (I used to - was a hyper stressed and angry teenager).

my nose has a very sore spot at the top of it next to my eye. this is likely caused by getting a pint glass to the face when a dance move turned for the worse

Tipper Gourd (Nijoli), Monday, 26 April 2010 14:25 (sixteen years ago)

a very strong but dull burning pain in my calf muscle, like right next to the bone when i roll over while i sleep. bad enough to wake me up. i got an extremely bad bruise on my calf like 3 weeks ago skiing.

i saw my OB today where I found out the latter two symptoms. he wanted to give me meds which i refused and then told me to keep on checking my bp. me: 'so what will the numbers be when its time to panic about this" him: "uh these are the numbers". lolz .

i would get this checked out in case of a blood clot, someone i know hurt his leg recently and it still didn't feel right a couple of weeks later and it turned out he's got 19 blood clots in his leg, so it's a new worry of mine.

estela, Wednesday, 28 April 2010 03:58 (sixteen years ago)

did he suggest a diagnosis?

xp to sunny

estela thanks, i actually have been contemplating doing this, but here's why i havent (aside from not wanting to go on blood thinners):

in 2001 i had basically identical symptoms in my upper leg following a really severe blow to my thigh muscle. went to the doc after a couple of weeks, he shrugged and ordered an mri. i went to do mri, but tech told me the instrux were for an mri of my knee, so i cancelled it, since that wouldn't even image the area i was experiencing the pain in. w/in a couple of days i did a hard cyclocross race. when i woke up the next morning i had a huge visible bruise just above the outside of my knee and everything felt normal again. yknow, my doc did not seem to really believe my story. so here i am.

fat mantis (Hunt3r), Wednesday, 28 April 2010 05:16 (sixteen years ago)

Sunny, you better not have posted for 9 hours because you were AT THE HOSPITAL.

wasting time and money trying to change the weather (Laurel), Wednesday, 28 April 2010 13:22 (sixteen years ago)

amazingly in the past 9 hours i have come down with shingles. i gather i have some rotten times ahead. luckily i was suspicious and went straight to the doctor and got medicine, apparently the quicker you take it the better.

estela, Wednesday, 28 April 2010 13:32 (sixteen years ago)

not to make light of your predicament estela but now I realize that shingles is what that one dude at the gym must have had. god I'm bringing a bleached towel the next time I go!

Oh boy, ILX! That's where I'm a Whiney! (dyao), Wednesday, 28 April 2010 13:35 (sixteen years ago)

shingles isn't contagious, i don't think?!

also: my sympathy is with you, estela - both my little sis and my mum got in within a few months of each and it was pretty painful for both of them. but apparently catching it quickly is def the way to lessen its impact.
