guys my dad is going a little nuts w/ the horatio facebook page now! should i un-admin him?

tehresa, Wednesday, 31 March 2010 02:38 (sixteen years ago)

tell him he hit 51 SBs and is temp-banned

I made a giant batch of raw cat food this weekend. It's disgusting glop, 4 lbs of ground organic chicken thighs and 3/4 lb of ground chicken livers all mixed up with a cup of powdered supplements and 2 cups of water. They totally love it.

Jaq, Wednesday, 31 March 2010 03:06 (sixteen years ago)

that is awesome! my mom has been feeding horatio homemade food but i guess she left the livers separate because he will eat everything else and turn his nose up at the liver!

tehresa, Wednesday, 31 March 2010 03:09 (sixteen years ago)

I'm probably going to keep buying the frozen stuff from Primal or maybe try that one cutty linked to that would have to ship from the bay area, once I've used up all the supplement powder. It cost more to make it myself than buy the little frozen bricks. Sold all the unopened cans of prescription food back to the vet on Saturday - nice to not have to deal with that smelly stuff anymore tbh. Horatio doesn't know what he's missing, mmmm chicken livers. I made the rest of the package up into paté pour des personnes, with shallots and Cockspur rum.

Jaq, Wednesday, 31 March 2010 03:24 (sixteen years ago)

my cat seriously loves the raw stuff, she goes nuts for it. the sound of her gobbling it up is hilarious. jaq you are brave for trying it yourself!

want a cat or a dog so bad now, but know that it would not be the responsible thing to do.

dyªº (dyao), Sunday, 25 April 2010 16:02 (sixteen years ago)

i realllly want a dog but i have come to accept that i will never be home enough and it's not fair. at least for now.

tehresa, Sunday, 25 April 2010 16:05 (sixteen years ago)

ok there is a 13 year old female cat on the adopt a cat page and they say she is having a really hard time being in a shelter and doesn't understand and is depressed. she is very cheap because she is old.

and she is a flame point persian.

roxymuzak, Monday, 26 April 2010 04:10 (sixteen years ago)

You should totally get her. The old ones are really heartbreaking.

kate78, Monday, 26 April 2010 04:24 (sixteen years ago)

feel sorry for the cat but why do that to yourself

Nhex, Monday, 26 April 2010 08:13 (sixteen years ago)

Cats can live to be 20 so you could give her seven awesome years! My eldest cat is 13 and she totally rocks. She sleeps more than she used to and instead of spryly jumping up on the couch, she kind of climbs up the side (which is cute, but kind of unfortunate for the upholstery) but she's still 100% zany, adorable, very lovey dovey cat. AND she gets some serious institutional rage when we take her to the vet, as in they have to knock her out to perform a routine exam, so if she were in a shelter, she'd probably lose her fucking mind. But then as soon as we bring her home, she's up on my lap trying to crawl under my shirt again.

So, in summary, based on my anecdote, you should definitely adopt the 13 yo female flame point persian.

I would not mind giving a cat even one more great year.

roxymuzak, Monday, 26 April 2010 16:40 (sixteen years ago)

<3 that sentiment just a little bit

snakebite and a passable pinot noir (Upt0eleven), Monday, 26 April 2010 16:49 (sixteen years ago)

my only hesitation is that i have a ridiculous little boy cat and i dont want him to terrorize her

roxymuzak, Monday, 26 April 2010 16:57 (sixteen years ago)

I would not mind giving a cat even one more great year.

This is prob my all-time favourite ilx post. Has been on my mind all week and makes me want to adopt an old cat as well.

snakebite and a passable pinot noir (Upt0eleven), Friday, 30 April 2010 10:27 (sixteen years ago)

Thanks, dude! I'm gonna go see her tomorrow and ask questions of the shelter people re: getting along with a younger, wilder cat.

roxymuzak, Sunday, 2 May 2010 02:33 (sixteen years ago)

found out my cat is somehow freaked out by the smell of sunscreen? ...considering how this can be useful

johnny crunch, Sunday, 2 May 2010 18:48 (sixteen years ago)

i would rub it on all the white apple cables in my apartment. the cat goes fricken bananas for any white apple cable.

cutty, Sunday, 2 May 2010 20:56 (sixteen years ago)

cutty, Monday, 5 July 2010 17:36 (fifteen years ago)

I'm fairly certain that I'm getting a cat in a few weeks. It's an "older kitten" who is a stray and also very regal looking, from the picture. :D :D :D

sinister chemical wisdom (Jenny), Tuesday, 6 July 2010 14:16 (fifteen years ago)

Grand amiral de la marine des licornes (Michael White), Tuesday, 6 July 2010 22:17 (fifteen years ago)

Ohhh what an awesome cat!

I think I want an orange tabby but tbh if I was allowed to have cats I'd take in the first one I came across that needed a good home.

tehresa, Tuesday, 6 July 2010 22:31 (fifteen years ago)

i like cats that hide behind chairs and then swiftly rake their claws across passing surprised ankles.

estela, Tuesday, 6 July 2010 22:34 (fifteen years ago)

that is just antisocial

fresno's wet (gbx), Tuesday, 6 July 2010 23:40 (fifteen years ago)

estela, Wednesday, 7 July 2010 00:16 (fifteen years ago)

puff puff post (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 00:19 (fifteen years ago)

I have met many cats like that. every time, I say 'what is your fucking problem, cat??' and the cat is like 'i hate you all' and the owners are either 'she's really sweet tho, really!!' or 'she's a bitch, don't go near her, we live in fear.' it's all v hardcore pet ownership.

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 00:25 (fifteen years ago)

xp

obliquity of the ecliptic (rrrobyn), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 00:25 (fifteen years ago)

tehresa, Wednesday, 7 July 2010 00:30 (fifteen years ago)

i don't use hair ties, uh oh i'm having a fantasy

the girl with the butt tattoo (harbl), Wednesday, 7 July 2010 00:51 (fifteen years ago)

'she's a bitch, don't go near her, we live in fear.'

^ exactly what "my" cat living at my mom's house is like and what my parents have to tell every guest. But she is sweet too, really! If you only pet her on her head and only for so long. You have to keep watching for that look in her eye. You know what I'm talking about.

peacocks, Wednesday, 7 July 2010 13:51 (fifteen years ago)

thank god i got a sweet female cat. WOMEN ARE EVIL!!

cutty, Wednesday, 7 July 2010 14:11 (fifteen years ago)

My uncle's cat, daisy, is kind of socially awkward/finnicky but you can pet her now. She used to be very aggressive, and it wasn't until her brother, frank, died and she was alone that she opened up. They think frank had been terrorizing poor daisy, that EVIL MAN!

tehresa, Wednesday, 7 July 2010 22:21 (fifteen years ago)
