hey girls I am meh on Franco but I am really really into hair stuff these days so like for real ask me anything about lo-poo, no-poo, co-washing, CG, modified CG, sulfates, 'cones, plopping, etc. etc. I can answer all your pressing hair questions!

quincie, Monday, 21 December 2009 16:16 (sixteen years ago)

I can't find deva brown anymore! have you seen it?

tehresa, Monday, 21 December 2009 16:20 (sixteen years ago)

I think the word on naturallycurly.com (DANGER: time-sucking and OCD-ifying) is that it has been discontinued???

my old hairdresser kept trying to convince me to man-up and stop washing my hair every day and used the old 'it'll stop being greasy once you get used to it' but i just couldn't. i hate hate hate greasy hair.

DAN P3RRY MAD AT GRANDMA (just1n3), Tuesday, 22 December 2009 02:41 (sixteen years ago)

haha. i can not-wash my hair now bc it's short again but i'm addicted to it. it really does stop getting greasy but i think it's more efficient to go a long stretch, like a week or more, w/o washing rather than gradually increasing so you only have to go through one period of greasiness. but i don't have the discipline.

welcome to gudbergur (harbl), Tuesday, 22 December 2009 03:23 (sixteen years ago)

i hate my hair you guys. think i'm going to cave and grow it out. i hope it doesn't take years.

horseshoe, Tuesday, 22 December 2009 16:32 (sixteen years ago)

horseshoe - I'm growing mine out too. Just got it trimmed and cleaned up this morning in anticpation of this awful growing out shit. NOw that I've done that I sort of love it. Gah. Never going that short ever again or at least until I get bored and impulsively chop it all off.

★彡☆ ★彡 (ENBB), Tuesday, 22 December 2009 16:35 (sixteen years ago)

I found my first gray hair.

sarahel, Tuesday, 22 December 2009 16:35 (sixteen years ago)

guys my bangs are hitting my LIPS and it is driving me insane but I am going to grow them out or shave my damn head. Growing is winning, so far! phew. I tricked my hair by cutting it on an angle so that the side that usually grows out poofy & looks like crap is shorter and balanced by my scraggly longer hair on the other side? I think it's working.

she started dancing to that (Finefinemusic), Tuesday, 22 December 2009 16:39 (sixteen years ago)

cutting your hair short is a trap because you become addicted to novelty and pretty soon no haircut is good enough and you have to keep cutting it until you have no hair left and then the only "novel" option is longer hair and then the wait is excruciating.

horseshoe, Tuesday, 22 December 2009 17:15 (sixteen years ago)

i never used to be this neurotic about my dam hair...grown so vain!

horseshoe, Tuesday, 22 December 2009 17:16 (sixteen years ago)

I never want to cut my hair again! I can go two days w/o washing but after that the bangs get kind gross. Though sometimes I'll just put powder in it to cut the grease as a temporary fix when I am feeling too lazy.

When I got my layers in my hair last summer, I noticed a lot more white hairs. (Ok, 10 total?) The other month I found one half brown, half white. I pluck them out, fuck an old wives' tale.

tokyo rosemary, Wednesday, 23 December 2009 03:19 (sixteen years ago)

what's the old wives' tale?

sarahel, Wednesday, 23 December 2009 03:51 (sixteen years ago)

i am thinking about cutting myself some REAL bangs (like tza has, for example, instead of the wispy layers thing i've usually maintained). but i'm pretty scared about it, so i'm currently some weird inbetween thing which works some days and not so much others. probably not helped by the fact that i've been trimming them myself with blunt scissors (fyi if i decide to get real bangs i will go to a certified hair cutting practitioner).

DAN P3RRY MAD AT GRANDMA (just1n3), Wednesday, 23 December 2009 03:54 (sixteen years ago)

If you pluck one white hair, ten more will pop up!

tokyo rosemary, Wednesday, 23 December 2009 04:01 (sixteen years ago)

My hair is FINALLY long enough to put back in a wee pigtail (too small to be called ponytail) after, I dunno, 2 yrs of short hair in various stages of growing out from a major pixie. Feeling your pain, but there is an end to the waiting. I have a couple of more gray hairs tho :-/

figgy pudding (La Lechera), Wednesday, 23 December 2009 04:06 (sixteen years ago)

i am excited about gray hair

welcome to gudbergur (harbl), Wednesday, 23 December 2009 04:08 (sixteen years ago)

not excited but more like, i think it would be fun

welcome to gudbergur (harbl), Wednesday, 23 December 2009 04:08 (sixteen years ago)

Do you have really thick hair? Grey looks cool on ppl w/ super thick hair. Mine is stringy.

figgy pudding (La Lechera), Wednesday, 23 December 2009 04:10 (sixteen years ago)

trying to decide which took longer - growing out the unfortunately layered "mullet" I got in junior high or growing out the last dye job, after I'd decided to let my hair be its natural color after almost 20 years of dying it.

sarahel, Wednesday, 23 December 2009 04:11 (sixteen years ago)

xp - my hair is super thick.

sarahel, Wednesday, 23 December 2009 04:11 (sixteen years ago)

yeah i have thick hair

welcome to gudbergur (harbl), Wednesday, 23 December 2009 04:11 (sixteen years ago)

i've found like 2 gray hairs.. not excited about it! my hair is pretty thick, don't know if it'll look cool, it's more like ohno, getting old ;_;

25 was a good year.

sarahel, Wednesday, 23 December 2009 04:22 (sixteen years ago)

If my hair goes white, I'm gonna go blonde.

tokyo rosemary, Wednesday, 23 December 2009 04:27 (sixteen years ago)

i'm gonna look like terry gross when i get old because i don't have much of a choice. it's either tg or wigs.

figgy pudding (La Lechera), Wednesday, 23 December 2009 17:55 (sixteen years ago)

wigs can be awesome though.

sarahel, Wednesday, 23 December 2009 17:57 (sixteen years ago)

quincie, Wednesday, 23 December 2009 18:00 (sixteen years ago)

RE: washing, not washing

I define washing as shampooing, particularly with a sulfate shampoo. I have been using a lo-poo (no sulfates) around twice a week, conditioner washing (<<<<<<<<<---- key concept) about twice a week, rinsing with just water about once a week and not wetting at all once a week. I am also doing the growing-out thing and want the ancient hairs (once past shoulder length) to be healthy.

I had three gray hairs, pulled two out and left one in.

quincie, Wednesday, 23 December 2009 18:03 (sixteen years ago)

xp - LoL at "truth bomb" - I've reconciled myself to the fact that if my hair is shorter than chin-length it makes my face look too long, and if it's significantly longer than chin-length I look like a female member of the Ramones.

sarahel, Wednesday, 23 December 2009 18:06 (sixteen years ago)

i didn't wash my hair yesterday but i did today. i switched to whole foods brand shampoo fyi

welcome to gudbergur (harbl), Thursday, 24 December 2009 01:48 (sixteen years ago)

i think tea tree tingle was giving me dandruff, which seems backwards

welcome to gudbergur (harbl), Thursday, 24 December 2009 01:49 (sixteen years ago)

y'all i have had like a million gray hairs so i really would not worry if i were you.
i like to wash my hair every day tbh. i can not do that, but i still need to wet/wash the bangs otherwise they look like a greasy stringy mess which is totally nagl w/ this weird tina fey bang cut shit. i am pretty into having long hair, though! after many moons of having a chin length angled bob!

This here ^^^ is some good shit, shampoo wise.

she is writing about love (Jenny), Sunday, 27 December 2009 22:41 (sixteen years ago)

i went no-poo for a year and a half (baking soda/water, twice a week, instead) but stopped out of a combination of laziness and the fear that it was making my hair go grey quicker. I don't know if it was a stressful life or I was just paying more attention but I kept finding whitehairs, started remembering that my grandmother's hair had gone white in her thirties, got a bit worried.

lords of hyrule (c sharp major), Monday, 28 December 2009 11:36 (sixteen years ago)

that can't happen though!

welcome to gudbergur (harbl), Monday, 28 December 2009 16:03 (sixteen years ago)

that no-poo sends you grey? it seemed unlikely, but i thought if I was getting all frettish about it I might as well stop.

lords of hyrule (c sharp major), Monday, 28 December 2009 17:58 (sixteen years ago)

fair enough

welcome to gudbergur (harbl), Monday, 28 December 2009 18:01 (sixteen years ago)

also, laziness. and getting fed up w/ suspicion that I smelt of vinegar but couldn't tell any more.

lords of hyrule (c sharp major), Monday, 28 December 2009 18:05 (sixteen years ago)

HEY!
