holy shit you guys

so, something we did NOT cover in my immunology course was CAT SHOTS. not sure how i made it this far in life w/o knowing this, but apparently you can get shots that make you no longer allergic to cats. which means i can consider a cat ^_^

my bf got into a scrap with Bernard last night and got all little scratches all over his body, and they swelled up like crazy cause apparently he is allergic -- ? they were like enormous welts everywhere. apparently this isn't a big deal. i freaked out!

I was reallllly sad that I had to leave kitty behind today. He is soooo affectionate and just wants a home. I am working on my mom to get it fixed and adopt it til I move to an apt that allows pets. Probably won't happen, but I told her it could live upstairs, or it could be their outdoor cat. We grilled some chicken and he got all curled up next to the grill afterward to soak up the warmth <3

tehresa, Friday, 1 January 2010 21:13 (sixteen years ago)

srsly!!! <3

kitty's all "grill me some chicken"

latebloomer, Saturday, 2 January 2010 16:42 (sixteen years ago)

I really wanted to give him the sardines I didn't finish bc that can will probably just sit there til the next time I'm home but the suggestion was frowned upon.

tehresa, Saturday, 2 January 2010 17:21 (sixteen years ago)

youre a crappy person if you dont just make it work with this cat, iirc

S.E., we runnin' this FAP shit (roxymuzak), Sunday, 3 January 2010 20:36 (sixteen years ago)

yeah that is the rule of this thread

dome plow (gbx), Sunday, 3 January 2010 20:37 (sixteen years ago)

as of last night, they were letting him stay in the garage bc it was very cold out!
mom was talking about getting him neutered <3
they may keep him as their outdoor/garage cat til i live in a pet-friendly place.
but also my parents suck on the follow through so we'll see.

tehresa, Sunday, 3 January 2010 20:38 (sixteen years ago)

if the cat is already a stray, then paying for shots/nuts-off and keeping him outside is a good option. that's what we did with our cat years ago. he followed a friend down the driveway (who was calling him from his moving car....the cat came when you called!), and we gave him some milk, and he never left. he was also cheap to feed bcause he was a fukkin bruiser and killed all of the animals.

like literally squirrel/chipmunk/bird carcasses all over the dang place for the first few weeks he was there. eventually all of the small things of the forest learned to stay away

dome plow (gbx), Sunday, 3 January 2010 20:40 (sixteen years ago)

yay mom just fed him the sardines!!!
she is asking me what kind of cat food to buy: suggestions?

tehresa, Sunday, 3 January 2010 21:13 (sixteen years ago)

mice

dome plow (gbx), Sunday, 3 January 2010 21:13 (sixteen years ago)

Sam's or Costco private label dry food -- good enough, cheap enough.

America's Next Most Disabled Ballerina (WmC), Sunday, 3 January 2010 21:23 (sixteen years ago)

i am reading that wet foods are generally better bc they contain less grain/fillers. apparently cats only should not exceed 5% of their diet from carbs.

tehresa, Sunday, 3 January 2010 21:27 (sixteen years ago)

wellness CORE and wellness grain-free wet

sir ilx-a-lot (cutty), Sunday, 3 January 2010 21:39 (sixteen years ago)

thankig u

tehresa, Sunday, 3 January 2010 21:59 (sixteen years ago)

Our kitty is on a special renal diet food but when she was younger she did Iams and has made it to geriatric age. Actually when I was a poor graduate student she got lolMeow Mix (warning: produces bright orange vomit)and seemed to be fine on that so yeah, whatever food you get that kitty, you will be doing well by kitty!

quincie, Sunday, 3 January 2010 22:11 (sixteen years ago)

Also: Mr Que forgot to pick up cat treats when he went to the store earlier today; when he realized this he promtly went back out into freezing cold bitter awful weather to get her some <3 <3 <3

quincie, Sunday, 3 January 2010 22:13 (sixteen years ago)

apparently he lovvvvved the sardines and devoured them super fast.

tehresa, Sunday, 3 January 2010 22:16 (sixteen years ago)

whatever food you get that kitty, you will be doing well by kitty!

not sure i agree with this

sir ilx-a-lot (cutty), Sunday, 3 January 2010 22:22 (sixteen years ago)

any supermarket cat food is crap, all filler grains, corn gluten meal, meat by products, etc

sir ilx-a-lot (cutty), Sunday, 3 January 2010 22:22 (sixteen years ago)

it's a cat

sir ilx-a-lot (cutty), Sunday, 3 January 2010 22:26 (sixteen years ago)

i did tell my mom to go for no grain stuff. she left for the store before cutty's suggestion.

tehresa, Sunday, 3 January 2010 22:27 (sixteen years ago)

Bernard, aka Most Gooniest Feline, will not eat wet food. This was even and especially true when he was practically dying in the cat hospital, living in an oxygen tent. "He won't eat the fancy food," they said to me, over the phone. "But he's a sweet boy."

S.E., we runnin' this FAP shit (roxymuzak), Monday, 4 January 2010 09:16 (sixteen years ago)

aw.

my mom got a new computer yesterday and she was more interested in the cat! i think this is a good sign.

tehresa, Monday, 4 January 2010 18:31 (sixteen years ago)

<3 i love that cat.

estela, Monday, 4 January 2010 23:22 (sixteen years ago)
