i thought of having a thread about soap because i like soap for some reasoni've been using trader joe's tea tree tingle shampoo and conditioner lately (cheap) but i don't have curly hairwas washing my hair only twice a week earlier this year but i hate how you have to train it not to get greasy and it gets untrained right away if you happen to wash your hair too much so now i do it every day
― harbl, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:00 (sixteen years ago)
sarahel, you can get it at most salons and sometimes at drugstores/target/etc. it is pricey, though.
― horseshoe, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:00 (sixteen years ago)
i almost never wash my hair anymore tbh. like once-twice a week.
― horseshoe, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:01 (sixteen years ago)
i'm addicted to it :(
― harbl, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:01 (sixteen years ago)
i mean, i'm a little gross these days, so
― horseshoe, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:02 (sixteen years ago)
Every day. It looks like crap if I don't.
― bear say hi to me (ENBB), Monday, 30 November 2009 01:02 (sixteen years ago)
i wash my hair every day or i feel gross.
― tehresa, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:02 (sixteen years ago)
yeah twice a week for me. it's kinda fun actually - because it's only curly the first day, and then after two or three days, i have more or less straight hair.
― sarahel, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:02 (sixteen years ago)
See my hair is pin straight and just starts to look weird and flat if I don't wash it. Also, what Tza said about feeling gross.
― bear say hi to me (ENBB), Monday, 30 November 2009 01:03 (sixteen years ago)
my hair was always like that until i cut it all off; now it looks better when it's dirty? so weird
― horseshoe, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:04 (sixteen years ago)
also sometimes twice bc like if i get up and shower go do stuff and then go to the gym later i will take another shower and wash again usually.
― tehresa, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:05 (sixteen years ago)
well i got it so it wasn't getting greasy or flat for a few days. it did look better dirty, not staticky or too straight.
― harbl, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:05 (sixteen years ago)
Yeah Horseshoe when mine was really short I think it might have too. I'm growing it again though so skipping a wash not an option.
― bear say hi to me (ENBB), Monday, 30 November 2009 01:06 (sixteen years ago)
i think my hair does better dirty when it is longer, but i have bangs and i always have to rewash them even if i don't do the whole head.
― tehresa, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:06 (sixteen years ago)
i make my hair straight most of the time, so i wash it every day to do that (blowdry + flat iron, typically).
i was just gonna say bumble and bumble super rich or coco!! i use it. my hair is v curly and dry also, though not that thick (essentially bald)
― afa the i can c (roxymuzak), Monday, 30 November 2009 01:06 (sixteen years ago)
i've gone a week without washing my hair when I've been really busy - and have had people tell me like on day 6 of not washing it that it looks great. I'm not saying that it does. Hmm, maybe it has to do with it being thick? I don't know.
― sarahel, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:07 (sixteen years ago)
Bumble and Bumble is good but it's SO expensive. :-(
― bear say hi to me (ENBB), Monday, 30 November 2009 01:07 (sixteen years ago)
if you dont wash your hair often it stops getting greasy as fast
this is a fact
xpost luckily, it is a tinny bottle that is easy to shoplift
― afa the i can c (roxymuzak), Monday, 30 November 2009 01:08 (sixteen years ago)
my curly-haired sister is fascist about care for curly hair and she would tell you that you have to wash your hair sparingly and condition it lavishly, sarahel
― horseshoe, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:08 (sixteen years ago)
horseshoe: that is the advice that i've heard and try to follow.
― sarahel, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:09 (sixteen years ago)
Have you guys tried the whole Deva low/no poo thing? I wasn't impressed but it's supposed to be good for curly hair.
― bear say hi to me (ENBB), Monday, 30 November 2009 01:10 (sixteen years ago)
my fascist curly-haired sister (mfchs) has tried deva no-poo and pooh-poohs it
― horseshoe, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:10 (sixteen years ago)
Interesting!!
btw did you see revived Ed Burns thread? Left msg for you. ;)
― bear say hi to me (ENBB), Monday, 30 November 2009 01:11 (sixteen years ago)

― harbl, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:11 (sixteen years ago)
i have no clue about any of this shit tbh :/
― harbl, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:12 (sixteen years ago)

― horseshoe, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:12 (sixteen years ago)
i liked to use the deva no-poo as a conditioner - not too heavy. but they discontinued the brown one i think :(
― tehresa, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:13 (sixteen years ago)
x-post hee hee
― bear say hi to me (ENBB), Monday, 30 November 2009 01:13 (sixteen years ago)
a brown conditioner called no poo? this is too much
― harbl, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:13 (sixteen years ago)
lolll
anyway i also really liked the low-poo
― tehresa, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:14 (sixteen years ago)
but for some reason i didn't like the regular low-poo, only the brown one?
lol harbl i guess it's called that because it doesn't lather?
― horseshoe, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:14 (sixteen years ago)
ohhhh haha
― harbl, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:14 (sixteen years ago)
I'm confused too now, is it no-soap shampoo or something?
― hulk would smash (Trayce), Monday, 30 November 2009 01:15 (sixteen years ago)
is there some kind of shampoo that's like a bar? someone mentioned it once and i'm not sure it exists. i'm interested in shampoos that are like the simplest, boringest thing possible
― harbl, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:16 (sixteen years ago)
it's sulfate free and low-foaming, v v v gentle on the hair. it made my hair super silky.
― tehresa, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:17 (sixteen years ago)
Harbl - Lush makes a solid shampoo. Will get you link. Hang on . . .
― bear say hi to me (ENBB), Monday, 30 November 2009 01:17 (sixteen years ago)
btw do not use dr. bronner's on your hair it will turn it to straw no joke
lush stuff smells
oh there's a burt's bees one and j.r. liggett's something something
― harbl, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:17 (sixteen years ago)
i use bronner's sometimes! after i get back from hairdresser mostly. it's not so bad, for me
― harbl, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:18 (sixteen years ago)
i had an ex that used dr bronner's on his hair, but i think his hair was naturally really greasy, so it ended up looking okay.

Lush stores are overpoweringly smelly but I do like some of their stuff.

this has fresh pure new hampshire springwater in it :p http://www.vitacost.com/J-R-Liggetts-Old-Fashioned-Bar-Shampoo-The-Original-Formula
― harbl, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:19 (sixteen years ago)
I never use supermarket shampoos, only low-soap salon ones. Shit like Pantene strips the shit out of my hair. And when you have grey hair like I do (lol old) then you gotta treat it like delicate silk.
― hulk would smash (Trayce), Monday, 30 November 2009 01:22 (sixteen years ago)
oh yeah i never noticed how bad pantene was until i used it when i ran out of bulk co-op shampoo last time and it was so so dry and staticky and straight. awful. i used to only use that! i like the smell of it
― harbl, Monday, 30 November 2009 01:23 (sixteen years ago)
The shampoo I'm using right now is Tigi Catwalk Oatmeal and Honey shampoo. It smells like cookies. Every morning I have to remind myself that it's not to be eaten.
― bear say hi to me (ENBB), Monday, 30 November 2009 01:24 (sixteen years ago)
I don't use Pantene shampoo - only the conditioner.
I used to use Clairol Herbal Essences, but then they changed the design of their conditioner bottle so that I had trouble opening it, and I started trying different conditioners. I'm kind of self-conscious about the Clairol Herbal Essences shampoo (it does smell nice) - because 12 years ago when I worked in radio, I had to edit the commercials into a nine hour radio special commemorating the 30th anniversary of the summer of love. Each spot break there was an ad for Clairol Herbal Essences shampoo. So I was inundated with commercials for this product. And now I use this product. I feel like the ads worked, even though I hated them at the time, and it was the shampoo at Walgreen's that smelled the best and wasn't super expensive.
