ian, Tuesday, 17 November 2009 18:24 (sixteen years ago)

look how happy they are. if you put them up on craigslist someone might separate them! they need each other! <3

jØrdån (omar little), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 18:30 (sixteen years ago)

after awhile these guys will take care of themselves. the cat we have was pretty much homeless before it was taken in, and she's just totally mellow, friendly, and i think eternally grateful (if cats can be grateful)

jØrdån (omar little), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 18:31 (sixteen years ago)

yeah what omar said except just know that your entire life will be covered with fur

super sexy psycho fantasy world (uh oh I'm having a fantasy), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 18:46 (sixteen years ago)

i wouldn't put them up on craigslist. waiting to hear back from people who have foster homes for homeless cats. i wish i could take them but i don't have a car to take them to the vet to get them checked for parasites and stuff, need more furniture so i can store things they'd like to eat, don't wanna pay landlord's absurd pet deposit and higher rent at the moment, have nowhere to put them during thanksgiving, etc. also can u guys stop making me feel guilty thx

oh yeah xpost also i have no vacuum yet

harbl, Tuesday, 17 November 2009 18:47 (sixteen years ago)

~i'll~ take them

jØrdån (omar little), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 18:49 (sixteen years ago)

i feel like if harbl ditches these cats she should not be allowed a cat in future times.

tehresa, Tuesday, 17 November 2009 18:50 (sixteen years ago)

karmic punishment or something.

tehresa, Tuesday, 17 November 2009 18:50 (sixteen years ago)

itdn put butt in the display name (gbx), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 19:11 (sixteen years ago)

i think since harbl started this thread and she found two (2) dumpster cats yesterday, this is proof that a) God reads ILX and b) God sent her dumpster kitties

jazzgasms (Mr. Que), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 19:14 (sixteen years ago)

^^^

srsly if after all this you are getting rid of the cats, maybe you are not really a cat person.

tehresa, Tuesday, 17 November 2009 19:24 (sixteen years ago)

can you guys read

harbl, Tuesday, 17 November 2009 19:32 (sixteen years ago)

God can read

jazzgasms (Mr. Que), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 19:32 (sixteen years ago)

j/k that really sucks about your situation, though

jazzgasms (Mr. Que), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 19:33 (sixteen years ago)

listen, people have babies all the time and don't think of the expense. just keep the kittens.

tehresa, Tuesday, 17 November 2009 19:34 (sixteen years ago)

like if i was ready to get a cat i would have gotten one a couple months ago. an adult cat. not two manic kittens.

harbl, Tuesday, 17 November 2009 19:35 (sixteen years ago)

it's not just the expense geez

harbl, Tuesday, 17 November 2009 19:35 (sixteen years ago)

itdn put butt in the display name (gbx), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 19:39 (sixteen years ago)

these poor kittens were already abandoned once.
do it again, and they'll be scarred.

tehresa, Tuesday, 17 November 2009 19:39 (sixteen years ago)

yeah no they won't

luol deng (am0n), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 20:00 (sixteen years ago)

just playin devil's catvocate here.

tehresa, Tuesday, 17 November 2009 20:01 (sixteen years ago)

Somebody has to.

kate78, Tuesday, 17 November 2009 20:10 (sixteen years ago)

Oh for pete's sake. Harbl, I'm with you, I don't think anyone is obligated to rescue animals they didn't abandon -- congrats for you if you do, but you don't have to re-make your life for a cat. Of all things. And people who don't think about how much babies cost are a) stupid and b) in big trouble. Here's a newsflash for you: LOTS OF PEOPLE WAIT TO HAVE BABIES B/C THEY CAN'T AFFORD THEM. If you have one, you make do. But cost is an excellent reason to wait, imo.

WHY DON'T YOU JUST LICK THE BUS DIRECTLY (Laurel), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 20:30 (sixteen years ago)

jazzgasms (Mr. Que), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 20:35 (sixteen years ago)

Also FYI you people who say that ultimately the cats will "take care of themselves" are the same people who say things like, "Muffy threw up in my shoes again because she's mad at me, but that's just how cats are. You have to love them. They pee in the house, they yak up hairballs, that's just all part of being a cat! Awww aren't they so cute???"

WHY DON'T YOU JUST LICK THE BUS DIRECTLY (Laurel), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 20:37 (sixteen years ago)

ftr i don't even really like cats.

no one is obligated to rescue cats, but when you choose to do so then you accept responsibility for them and it's kinda crappy to back out? anyway obviously harbl isn't gonna keep the cats so it's a moot point and hopefully they find a nice home.

tehresa, Tuesday, 17 November 2009 20:39 (sixteen years ago)

Okay actually I think it was roxy and latebloomer and I don't remember who else who said, "This is the reality of cat ownership. You have to love them." But my point stands, at no time do they ACTUALLY "take care of themselves".

WHY DON'T YOU JUST LICK THE BUS DIRECTLY (Laurel), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 20:42 (sixteen years ago)

i think someone can provide care/companionship in dire and acute situations w/o taking lifetime responsibility!

xp

itdn put butt in the display name (gbx), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 20:42 (sixteen years ago)

Well, she took them out of an alley. If they go to a shelter now, at least they'll be fed and heated until someone takes them, or they're humanely put to sleep. That's a better life than freezing in the street and becoming feral and hungry all the time, and starting to reproduce MORE litters of unwanted kittens as soon as they hit 6-8 months and come into heat. Even just the part she has already done is a net benefit to cats in general, and these two kittehs in particular.

WHY DON'T YOU JUST LICK THE BUS DIRECTLY (Laurel), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 20:43 (sixteen years ago)

i dunno if i saw the cats by the dumpster i would probably say 'aw, poor cats' and then go home because there are just too many strays and i figure they usually do alright and i don't worry about them too much. or they get hit by a car, but it's that or dying in a shelter if not adopted, right?

tehresa, Tuesday, 17 November 2009 20:44 (sixteen years ago)

maybe they're busker cats, one plays guitar, one sings/warbles Dylan tunes, and they'd be fine on the streets

jazzgasms (Mr. Que), Tuesday, 17 November 2009 20:45 (sixteen years ago)

Maybe you should make them into busker cats, so they can earn their keep!
