btw thanks for the Sayohimebou rec, listening now and it's quite good. not sure I hear the similarity to Cochin Moon, it just sounds like a pure sugar rush to me

this may be of interest to some of you, apparently there's a legit Floral Shoppe vinyl you can get now:
https://oesbee.bandcamp.com/album/floral-shoppe

always kind of resented how this album overshadowed the rest of Vek's discography but whatever, I still bought one

frogbs, Monday, 7 August 2017 13:43 (six years ago) link

digging this sayohimebou

vaporwave on vinyl...does not compute

brimstead, Monday, 7 August 2017 18:41 (six years ago) link

btw those into the Hosono Monad stuff should probably check out Internet Club's Vanishing Vision - the track "Zones" in particular sounds so much like '85 Harry

Sorry, this is their first one. New to me and I got overly excited since I love Birth of a new day so much.

nxd, Saturday, 16 September 2017 18:26 (six years ago) link

The volume of stuff to comb through is fantastic and daunting
Some nice chording on the sacred tapestry track 移住

calstars, Tuesday, 19 September 2017 02:55 (six years ago) link

Thanks for the download link. I now have more vaporware than I'll ever be able to digest. It's all pretty good though. I enjoyed the Nmesh track that samples "Take My Breath Away".

Moodles, Tuesday, 19 September 2017 03:02 (six years ago) link

I prefer the original and ambient stuff over than the detuned 70s and "virtual" subgenres

calstars, Tuesday, 19 September 2017 03:11 (six years ago) link

I generally agree, but that one works in a weird way

nxd, Friday, 13 October 2017 13:47 (six years ago) link

Yeah, they're called Chaos....I've been working my way through them slowly. Seems to be more a bit more electronica on them on the whole than vwave

calstars, Friday, 13 October 2017 15:30 (six years ago) link

I guess GG Masin talk goes on an ambient thread but this track sounds pretty vapey to me.. except for the trumpet, which really takes me out of it.

couple of cute little eps released in the summer on +100
less than 10 mins long each, but both nice slices of chillness
https://plus100.bandcamp.com/album/sports-ep
finest sports themed vw release since 'us golf 95'?
https://plus100.bandcamp.com/album/illumina-ep
this one reminds me of 'paradise disc' the penultimate track off blank banshee 1

nxd, Monday, 30 October 2017 11:18 (six years ago) link

Those are nice, if somewhat undistinguished, but hey this is vw, so it’s to be expected !

calstars, Monday, 30 October 2017 11:48 (six years ago) link

ha yeah
i like these way more when they're 10 mins long and not a 40 minute album

nxd, Monday, 30 October 2017 11:51 (six years ago) link

this rules, very of the genre
https://soundcpu.bandcamp.com/album/sunset-melody

while this is great too - glitch pop meets video game music (holly herndon vs dk country as u were)
https://noumenalloom.bandcamp.com/album/toiret-status-nyoi-plunger

both have excellent record covers too, for differing reasons

Milton Parker, Tuesday, 19 December 2017 00:06 (six years ago) link

I love the seemingly endless amount of stuff in this genre, somehow this correlates with the nature of the music itself, endless variation and appropriation

calstars, Tuesday, 19 December 2017 01:11 (six years ago) link

phewee that's a lot of albums to listen to, 2k18 is gonna be busy!

nxd, Tuesday, 19 December 2017 09:30 (six years ago) link

I went through a handful last night and this one surfaced. It’s pretty telepath-y and ambient.
