trader joe's frozen pad thai is not noise because it is gross and watery.

trader joe's frozen veggie burritos are probably noise.

trader joe's powdered chai mix is definitely noise.

whole foods is for people making over $180,000 a year, i think. although i get cheese there sometimes.

i would really love to go to a trader josé's.

like if there is a pasta sauce or other italian item it is called trader giotto (italian for joe) or jose if its spanish... i'm not sure why they chose ming for asian... ming sounds nothing like joe, but yeah. also, they have hummus and greek stuff and just call it joe's so it's sort of inconsistent.

oh god.. met foods.

what about key foods? the one on avenue a and 3rd, my old local, was like night of the living baseheads unless it was a weekend day. even then, you had to watch out for the middle-aged sort-of trannie/it's pat kind of person who would get very angry if you didn't want his/her leftover coupons.

TRADER JOES IS TEH BEST. I go there to buy super ass cheap frozen shellfish, gyoza, and gelato (frozen gelato whatta concept). ALSO enough olive oil to drown 10 bros, and like magnums of wine (Copolla brand for under $12! Amarone for under $20? BUHH!). The fact this opened up in NYC finally warms my heart to no end because it was a sad day for me when I realized this didn't exist in NYC after tripping it in AZ when I lived there.

Hahahaha New Yorkers talking about Trader Joe's is funny to me.

West Coast Trader Joe's has become the bastion of really obnoxious daytime child guardians coming in with childs/pets in purses, pretending no one else is in the aisle and storming their way to get shit, knocking everyone else shit over, making excuses for it while the employees have to clean up the Trader's Joe's 32 ounce clam juice or whatever, and hearing the employees ding the bell every time more than 2 people might be actually waiting because then the mom or Mr. mom will complain to the manager for having to wait, but hey they have $3 wine, and have veggie corn dogs.

Trader's Joes West Coast Edition = NAAAWT NOIZE AT ALL (AT LEAST NOT GOOD NOIZE)

Yoo Doo Nut (donut), Sunday, 19 March 2006 11:48 (eighteen years ago) link

Basically, NYC Trader Joe's = west coast Dairy Queens...

relatively new = much better planned and pleasant I imagine, for what it is.

s/c johnson wax (Jody Beth Rosen), Sunday, 19 March 2006 15:04 (eighteen years ago) link

although i love tj's, the newish one by my parents' house is filled with customers like that. i'd estimate they make up about 80% of the clientele. the last time i was in, my line was held up for ages because the extremely wealthy-looking elderly couple in front of me made the cashier then a manager go over every item on their bill because they believed they'd been overcharged. they kept saying, "there's no way we've spent that much." mind you, they had a cart filled to the top and several cases of wine and their total was under $100. as i left i saw them loading the bags into a mercedes suv. it was a "GRR" moment. still, love those unchicken nuggets!!

*gets out false teeth and cane*

I remember the days as a kid where the only Trader Joe's you could go to in this town, or maybe country, was right in between Westwood and Santa Monica on Pico Blvd., and the only things they stocked them were corn chips, fruit baskets, and specialty soaps.

and WE LIKED IT!
