I had a notoriously ridiculously naive coworker who was clowned fairly regular who ended up quitting to move back home, then to work for his dad setting up DQ stores. He ended up moving to Florida to start DQs there and ended up marrying a soft serve girl.

true story my parents arranged an incredible TMNT themed party for my 10th or 11th birthday which included a family friend coming to the door dressed as a pizza delivery guy and handing me a pizza box that when opened revealed a cake decorated to look like a pizza

i'm not gonna fault the pro-cake faction for zinging the "office cake is the blue pill" turn this thread took at some point, but i really don't want us to get away from the fact that cake is actually probably the grossest food there is. thread history is at stake here because hating cake is so inflammatory and yet so deeply right in a way that really captures the essence of what a 'truth bomb' is.
look in your hearts and do the right thing.

― balls, Saturday, 30 November 2013 17:39 (ten years ago) link
I know you throw Arby's out there as the epitome of gross food, which it deserves, and yet, I would have to try this:

I bet they wipe the edges of the vat at the Arby's plant, put the residue into another vat, bake for ten years, then wipe the edges of that vat for the ingredients of Arby's Chocolate Molten® Cake.
― pplains, Saturday, 30 November 2013 17:54 (ten years ago) link
ILXors seem to be very pie>>cake, which is nonsense. Especially w/r/t fruit pies - apple, cherry, and strawberry/rhubarb pies are all fine, but they're mostly fruit, which is not really dessert IMO. Cake and cookies all the way. And cupcakes.
― disgruntled punter (Je55e), Saturday, 30 November 2013 17:57 (ten years ago) link
That's what molten cake is supposed to look like! The center is whipped up ganache or whatever, and it remains gooey.

I like homemade sheet cake (we call them tray bakes here in the UK) because it seems that people are more likely to be experimental with them, as opposed to regular cakes where generally people don't want to move outside the Victoria/chocolate/coffee & walnut area.

I love coffee cake. They used to have coffee cake at the 24 hour Embers in Midway in St. Paul before it closed. Used to always go there after playing or seeing a show at the Turf Club. Great steak & eggs, or at least great to a drunk 20 something at 2:30 in the morning. One time I was so drunk I didn't realize the cap was off my A1 sauce and I shook the bottle up and sprayed my friends and the booth in back of me.
