Hmm...I live in London, have a driving licence, but have never owned a car - so it's possible to get by without one.

However, I do find it slightly annoying when relatives say to me 'Oh you live in London - you don't need a car' when I know they would never dream of travelling by public transport.

this thread made me look up the snowfall for boston in '95, it was over 107 inches. that was the winter it snowed every friday from before thanksgiving on and there were three storms of over 20 inches in two weeks. what made it all the more remarkable was that the year before the city got less than 15 inches.
