im addicted to it. yr all from nyc, who else listens? i know at least chaki & dr morbius, since i found out about it from a thread they posted to.

my fav moment (from the joke calling episode, i guess?): when andy calls some random bronx chick to try to tell her a joke, insists she's on the air w/ him & his co-host ken & that they're 'co-co-NUUUUTS', all while ken remains totally silent, leading bronx chick to think andy is completely batshit insane & to call him out as such.

you probably have to listen to it.

So if yesterday's is my first episode and I hate it, I should persevere?

if yr like me any show involving actual callers (ie, andy speaking to ppl who actually know what to expect from him) is anathema until youve fallen in love w/ him & ken, at which point they suddenly become great.

oh man..how have i missed this thread...

you dudes know i shaved andy and gave both ken and andy reverse fades with the letters wfmu durring the marathon in 2006 right? also andy was made to drink (kenny goldmsith, the call screener, and prof. dum dum finished off the horrendous liquor that ken brought in during the prof's show) and had his head flushed in that episode...man..i never get to listen anymore..maybe ill call up an episode now.

in another classic i had called in when andy was late and kenny goldmsith filled in and the topic became the perennial, should we quit 7sd? my point was that they should learn from kenny and try and make the show even worse...also an episode very close to that where ken is out and maybe bronwyn filled in. the gag was people tried to read andy their family update xmas card letter without getting hung up on...i had just had surgery and damn that show hurt me.

we do need to coordinate a noise takeover some week...i have the call screeners business card somewhere...decent dude...lives here in greenpoint

bb, Thursday, 8 November 2007 19:24 (eleven years ago) Permalink

I remember hearing the shaving, ben.

Besides the NJ road beer handouts, I watched a baseball playoff game (on the phone) with them for the full hour as K & A made dumb bets on every little thing. At one point, Andy said "I betcha Dr. Morbius lives alone."

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 8 November 2007 19:43 (eleven years ago) Permalink

i love these stories! we should def noize take over an episode but all the episodes have been children centric lately!

Subject: THIS WEDNESDAY: STEVE GUTTENBERG + 5LB HULA HOOPING

Great news! Joining our guest list is Hollywood actor STEVE GUTTENBERG. He will be Live! In Person! Interviewed on the stage of the UCB Theater, and not over a ridiculous human phone chain!

You may know Guttenberg from such films as Cocoon, Three Men and a Baby, Police Academy (#'s 1, 2, 3 AND 4!), and Short Circuit. You may also know him from his naked Central Park jogs:

http://www.facebook.com/l/36550;www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmLdk57HWEo

PLUS...

Ken and Andy have a bet to resolve: if Ken can hula hoop with a 5lb hoop, Andy's promised to donate $500 to WFMU. Ken says this will be the easiest $500 he's ever made for the station (or, as Andy would allege, Ken's personal slush fund...) -- come see who wins.

.. will Ken break a hip on the 5lb hoop?
... will Andy's little daughter Molly steal the show with her hooping skillz?

Come find out!
