sanskrit, that is just some augmented reality to help people in ships perceive spatially where stuff is

i'm also reading this:

http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B000H2MOSM.01._AA240_SH20_SCLZZZZZZZ_V62533322_.jpg

which talks about how they developed subwoofer and bass cab technology during the war. They'd rig up PA systems on half-tracks that could broadcast sound up to fifteen miles, and would play recordings of mechanized infantry, tanks back-firing, fortifications being build, etc to fuck with Axis troops. At one point, they were mixing together three turntables and 12 tracks of wire-recorders to fake the sound of several regiments moving thru dark forests.

and THAT, dear friends, is noize. Just like the dazzle battleship camo designs.

tho it should be noted that these were 16" glass-style records, and it wasn't so much "tracks" as much as mixing 12 wire-recorders at once.

when the little wire-recordings broke, they would solder them back together with lit cigarettes.

if you've ever seen "The Long And The Short And The Tall" it starts with a troop of soldiers in the jungle making recordings for exactly these purposes:
