You had XCIII, right Ian? With "Arroyo?" Blahness is part of the point of that record, I guess. Part of the satire. "So Long" is a manifesto of blahness you might say. The one after that, Winter, is shorter songs. Those two albums are killer. (I have an earlier one that is not as good - though it does have one amazing track entitled "Sea and Sky.")

Merill Ward is one of the best singers ever. He beats Rich Stim by a mile and a half.

PUBLIC FLIPPER LIMITED IS ON ITS WAY TO MY HOUSE! i tried to find it in chicago, and didnt, but this hot chick at reckless asked me if i wanted to leave an order for it, so i would get it if it ever came in. i was like, sure yeah. then i totally forgot about it, and i got a call last week at a baseball game, saying it was in, and that was why that weekend was the best weekend ever.

HI, IM NEW TO THE BOARD...I THINK I MAY GO SEE THIS "FLIPPER" BAND ON THURSDAY.

OTB LOCALS ONLY! (ddb1), Tuesday, 22 August 2006 19:47 (seventeen years ago) link

The original members of Flipper, barring the late Will Shatter (with Bruno DeSmartass replacing Shatter once again as he had done for a 1982 tour), reunited to support CBGB on August 26 and 28, 2005. Singer Bruce Loose appeared on stage with a cane and heart monitors. This line-up of Flipper then continued to play live again beginning in 2006, with plans for a new album to be released and recorded in 2007.

Lazy Comet (plsmith), Tuesday, 22 August 2006 20:06 (seventeen years ago) link

Lazy Comet (plsmith), Friday, 25 August 2006 19:42 (seventeen years ago) link

yeah. it was pretty awesome and loud. PJ played what seemed to me to be a short set compared to the other bands.

WHY?!

nostormo, Tuesday, 4 February 2014 19:33 (ten years ago) link

you are wrong, the best Flipper album is Public Flipper Ltd

production on GF is questionable, for reference see the early version of "Sacrifice"

I used to love that track when i had the e.p. on vinyl. I think they added the e.p. tracks to the Sabotage live lp when it was reissued on cd a few years back didn't they? Otherwise not sure where the tracks are available.
Actually not sure hwo good the other 2 tracks are Hedda Gabbler is a slow droning dirge thing that I never got into and Memphis Tennessee is a too straight Chuck Berry cover isn't it?

Chicken shit was about Cale's whole band quitting thanks to onstage antics from the ex-Velvet or so i believe.
