not important

Other articles say that the student went down to the basement with three other students to investigate the noise. I'm wondering if the "four-on-one" aspect will lead to criminal charges or not; press statements from the police are deliberately uncertain at this point. Considering that it was a burglar breaking and entering, self-defense is clear, but those numbers could influence how this is interpreted.

lol at the sun basically outlining the best course of action if YOU TOO want to learn to wield a sword lethally. Expect related articles in the future, I imagine.

kingkongvsgodzilla, Wednesday, 16 September 2009 10:11 (sixteen years ago)

The sword police recovered from the scene, with a sharp blade and ribbon-wrapped hilt, is a replica of a historic samurai weapon. Though a real one would cost thousands of dollars, Guglielmi said, this one probably cost a few hundred.

The police spokesman said the student who wielded the weapon had no advanced sword training. "He wasn't a ninja," Guglielmi said.

Someone was shot in the eye a few blocks from my house last week. I'm in Gwynn Oak, and we get crime around here all day, but haven't heard of a shooting in a while.

Two men were shot about 9:30 a.m. Thursday near a Baltimore subway station on North Avenue, according to police. Officers responding to a call for shots fired in the 1600 block of W. North Ave. found a 27-year-old man with a gunshot wound to one of his legs. Another man, 22, was found at the bottom level of the Penn North station, also with gunshot wounds to the leg. A 26-year-old man who was serving three consecutive life sentences for shooting his ex-girlfriend and her two daughters in 2004 was erroneously released from a downtown Baltimore prison Thursday, setting off a regional manhunt as officials scrambled to explain how he got out.

Raymond Thomas Taylor, who was sentenced in 2005 to three life terms on three charges of attempted first-degree murder, escaped from the Maryland Correctional Adjustment Center about 2 p.m. when he posed as another inmate who was supposed to be released at that time, officials said.
