good lord, you waifs

cheesesteak and shake (dubplatestyle), Friday, 12 January 2007 18:29 (nineteen years ago)

i fit in them, but i get grumpy after about 4 hours because i'm just not used to wearing my jeans this tight ... is it worth being pissed off to be this fashion-forward?

vahid (vahid), Friday, 12 January 2007 18:31 (nineteen years ago)

and i can't wear them to school, either. i did one time and kids were going "mr f0zi's a skater / emo / a fag"

vahid (vahid), Friday, 12 January 2007 18:33 (nineteen years ago)

i don't think you'd want my jeans. i bought them when i was still wearing really big pants. i fit into a 32-33 and bought them a 36 thinking they'd shrink 2-3 inches. at the time they were my smallest pants, now they're my biggest.

JTR:

YES! I heard all about it! Well it was before the wedding but I was super stoked (a) to catch up with FRP and (b) to hear how good she's doing. Good times duders.

Vahid, what's your true waist measurement (like with measuring tape)?

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 12 January 2007 18:46 (nineteen years ago)

33"

vahid (vahid), Friday, 12 January 2007 18:53 (nineteen years ago)

if you one-wash and it's american product: 34"
it you one-wash and it's europe/japan: 36"

if you wear them raw, just try them on and see if they fit.

were the LVCs made in belgium/japan? if not, they may have been made here and then marketed/fit for euro/japan markets. where'd you get them?

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 12 January 2007 18:56 (nineteen years ago)

you're telling me what size to buy?

i got these at american rag on van ness.

vahid (vahid), Friday, 12 January 2007 18:58 (nineteen years ago)

yar dude, size up for one-washes. try on for raw fits.

i love how you say american rag cie "on van ness". there are only 3 in the USA duder (only 2 until last year)! ;-D

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 12 January 2007 19:02 (nineteen years ago)

he coulda gone to the one in LA. it is half way between where he lives now and where he used to live

jaxon (jaxon), Friday, 12 January 2007 19:08 (nineteen years ago)

there are 2 in LA now.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 12 January 2007 19:19 (nineteen years ago)

so ... these aren't going to stretch anymore? when does the real stretching happen, right away or later? am i asking stupid questions?

vahid (vahid), Friday, 12 January 2007 19:50 (nineteen years ago)

go on a diet, bruh

jaxon (jaxon), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:21 (nineteen years ago)

um what if you washed them and put them on without letting them dry all the way (or just not at all) and then do some aerobics or move around. i mean this is what happens when i ride a bike in the rain, i have to wash my jeans again because they are too big. yeah then take them off and let them dry.

or stop being a fattey ;-)

nazi bikini (harbl), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:24 (nineteen years ago)

it's hard to say... unless i'm misunderstanding something.

1) are you buying waistsize that is 3"s smaller than your real waist size?

2) you've never washed them?

XXs shrink with water or humidity. so maybe you are in a humid area or got them wet so that they shrank?

i'd give them some time. they are cotton fiber so just pull or stretch them and keep it that way for a day or two. make sure you store your XXs in a dry area too, that may help.

let me know what the country of origin was too, when you get a chance.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:27 (nineteen years ago)

i know you won't, but DO NOT do what caitlin recommends... unless you have any friends with 28" waists who you want to give a $200 pair of jeans too.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:29 (nineteen years ago)

shasta, how much longer will i have to wait for chocolate chip cookies?

chicago kevin (chicago kevin), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:32 (nineteen years ago)

steve i don't understand what kind of jeans can get smaller when they get wet? what are they made of? recycled garbage bags?

nazi bikini (harbl), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:33 (nineteen years ago)

also why can jeans cost $200? you guys are gay

nazi bikini (harbl), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:36 (nineteen years ago)

get equipped with waistband stretcher

elmo argonaut (allocryptic), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:36 (nineteen years ago)

washing does not shrink clothing; drying them does -- and then, most of the shrinkage is caused when fibers get pushed closer together during tumble drying.

ok, this is the shasta thread, but fyi.

elmo argonaut (allocryptic), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:39 (nineteen years ago)

i know drying shrinks things but steve said getting them wet will shrink them

nazi bikini (harbl), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:41 (nineteen years ago)

i need a butt stretcher

nazi bikini (harbl), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:41 (nineteen years ago)

trans pacific donkey cell phone (sleep), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:42 (nineteen years ago)

raw unwashed cotton shrinks when wet. and yes then it shrinks when it dries. i've never put any of my jeans in a dryer and yet they've all shrunk exactly to specs.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:43 (nineteen years ago)

elmo, why do you send garments to laundry before/after manufacture? or do you buy prewashed cotton?

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:44 (nineteen years ago)

I solve this problem by not actually ever washing my jeans, or maybe like once in a blue moon.

waistband stretcher?!

rrrobyn, breeze blown meadow of cheeriness (rrrobyn), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:45 (nineteen years ago)

i'll overlook the creepey azn stuff that goes on here but the jean fetish is absolutely disgusting

cousin larry bundgee (bundgee), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:49 (nineteen years ago)

So wait: my jeans stretch A LOT in between washings, and I have to wash and dry just to get them back to normal (ie non-saggy ass). But when I first buy them, they're as tight as I can get on. Why can I not find the happy medium?? Granted I have one pair of Joe's Jeans and the rest are all, like, Levi's, so I am clearly not in the Shasta Camp w/r/t denim.

Laurel (Laurel), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:52 (nineteen years ago)

hahahahaha!

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:52 (nineteen years ago)

steve, many of the garments we sell are tie-dyed in house and washed twice as part of the dyeing process -- we source those blanks oversized so they shrink to size. some of the solid-color shirts we make are pre-shrunk, but most are not, but we tend to source those blanks with a pretty high thread count so they don't shrink as much.

elmo argonaut (allocryptic), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:55 (nineteen years ago)

totally. BUT 14-21 ounce raw denim reacts very differently to water/heat than high thread count pre-shrunk t-shirts.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:57 (nineteen years ago)

yeah, that's likely. i'll trust your knowledge of raw demin on this, o wise shasta. :D

elmo argonaut (allocryptic), Friday, 12 January 2007 20:59 (nineteen years ago)

yeah how come my jeans never retain their shape after too long? just cheap jeans?

cheesesteak and shake (dubplatestyle), Friday, 12 January 2007 21:01 (nineteen years ago)

A pic of me being number one in my jeans:

Laurel, I wear Levi's lady jeans as well and I think they do this because they're like 3/4ths spandex.

walter kranz (walterkranz), Friday, 12 January 2007 21:04 (nineteen years ago)

Not mine, I've never found a pair of stretch jeans I could tolerate except my one pair of $$ ones.

Laurel (Laurel), Friday, 12 January 2007 21:08 (nineteen years ago)

Cheap Levis are not really denim though are they? They're like denim plus something... else. Something that only makes them last for 6 months.

walter kranz (walterkranz), Friday, 12 January 2007 21:13 (nineteen years ago)

Hardcore kids wear girl pants? ?

jaxon (jaxon), Friday, 12 January 2007 21:18 (nineteen years ago)

[16:28] [ETH@N]: i see them lil dude w/ the girls jeans & shit
[16:28] [ETH@N]: i could break dude in half
[16:28] [ETH@N]: lil muppet lookin legs

trans pacific donkey cell phone (sleep), Friday, 12 January 2007 21:25 (nineteen years ago)

I'm not talkin Wassup Rockers jeans here. Just normal old jeans that actually fit a skinny guy without ballooning out in the thighs like some kind of weird jockey pants. And every pair of girls jean's I've seen from Levis (not stretch pants) tend to have like 1% lycra and 1% nylon or polyester or something like that.

this is weird to me because in my day, "skaters" wore the ridiculously baggy jeans!
