Hey Steve,

What are your favorite Bob Marley songs? I was in Tequilla Flats the other day (don't go. shitty mexican food and frat boys) and they played one of his songs. i couldn't hear it because it was so loud in there, and maybe it was the margarita but it sounded ok.

Legendary Commissioner Bud Shasta,

Do you like Hiroshi's Kickback Vol 2 (Nonstop) and how did it get into my iPod?
Which is your favorite track?

Best regards,

f-red

felicity (felicity), Thursday, 20 April 2006 01:24 (twenty years ago)

f.

i have no idea what that is.

my last 10 listens:
broadcast - a man for atlantis
junior boys - last exit (fennesz rmx)
black dice - semen of the sun
lee perry - creation dub
the byrds - everybody's been burned
monks - i hate you
oneida - each one, teach one
REM - shaking through
pyramids - penetration

I have been getting some heavy brazilian listenings lately on my vacation... selections from the caetano veloso box set and some comprehensive compilations.

Steve.

PS: What happened to your thread?

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 20 April 2006 02:22 (twenty years ago)

I was listening to Chronic Town yesterday and today, bro. There are some good early R.E.M. videos on youtube - the "Wolves, Lower" video (I didn't know there was a "Wolves, Lower" video), "Carnival of Sorts" live on a children's show called Livewire, and "Radio Free Europe"/"So. Central Rain" on Letterman.

REM - shaking through

Did You Know™ that I totally fucking love that song.

Mr. STEVE SHASTA

Is wakeboarding a science?

If so would you consider getting involved with "Project Steve"?

Morbs,

To be honest, probably none. I'd love to but I think time is too tight for a 4-5 hour field trip.

ath (ath), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 12:46 (twenty years ago)

curious, ever have any demicelebrity sightings on ILB? any players, bill james, published writers, etc, show up?

jinx hijinks (sanskrit), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 13:09 (twenty years ago)

karl,

i have no idea.

no celebs on ILB, unless you count members of various indie (now known as "noise") rock bands and co-owner of indie rock industry giant.

published writers include the guy who does a Fox Sports Bay Area column (A's/Giants). Maybe some of the ILX/ILB regs get published in the Weeklies/Pitchfork?

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 17:05 (twenty years ago)

steve, where were you this past weekend?

jäxøñ (jaxon), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 19:00 (twenty years ago)

milton parker (Jon L), Wednesday, 7 June 2006 23:24 (twenty years ago)

JD

i've been in LA for way too long.

JL

what ails you?

Respectfully,
SShasta

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 8 June 2006 00:26 (twenty years ago)

nothing serious, but if western medicine's going to casually point me towards bizarre pharms that have only been on the market for 3 years, I'm definitely going to try chinese medicine first

milton parker (Jon L), Thursday, 8 June 2006 00:30 (twenty years ago)

see, that's the kind of question that could be on an "ask jeanne" thread.

JEANNE (ex libris), Thursday, 8 June 2006 00:44 (twenty years ago)

steve, i was in LA this weekend. you shoulda come to my grandma's 95th birthday party.

jäxøñ (jaxon), Thursday, 8 June 2006 01:12 (twenty years ago)

vahid

dearest steve,

did you have a happy birthday?

do you still like mirrors?

your pal,
rosemary

tokyo nursery school: afternoon session (rosemary), Tuesday, 13 June 2006 01:14 (twenty years ago)

Rosie,

It was okay, I've been out of town working most of the past month or so. The best was coming home to sleep in my very own bed. That's the best feeling in the world I think. Mirrors are okay.

V,

Dude, there is a time to shred... a time to schralp... a time to carve... and also a time to do a couple slashing off the tops just under the lip and leave this Brad Gerlach-esque spray-fan. But dude, you need to unplug sometime and just meditate at Swami's or your nearest Bahi'a Faith temple. Send me an email offline along with a check for several thousand dollars and we'll make this work.
