the Drake-Chenault Rock and Roll Timesweep - several seconds of every American #1 pop song since 1955 - originally cut out at 1977, updated by hiphats through 2009

Milton Parker, Thursday, 16 July 2009 03:05 (sixteen years ago)

/ #1 pop song on US charts / (not 'american pop')

totally unreleasable, so grab that as you can

cutty, Thursday, 16 July 2009 16:26 (sixteen years ago)

i guess so, you are cited in the wikipedia entry for plunderphonics

cutty, Thursday, 16 July 2009 16:28 (sixteen years ago)

that entry's really been built out recently

oswald's 'preplex' is similar to time sweep, one song at a time, but organized by ascending BPM instead of chronologically: http://www.pfony.com/prePlex/index.html

2nd hit on google for mae-shi mixtape is gygax's noize thread for it (r.i.p. gygax)

Milton Parker, Thursday, 16 July 2009 18:30 (sixteen years ago)

mutant sounds had the francisco album on their blog. i highly recommend it. i think radioactive put out a boot of it. i DON'T support them. i won't even buy used radioactive stuff. or fallout stuff. they are jerks. i put one of his songs on one of my hotheads mixes and i just saw that this was on youtube. he rules.

scott seward, Friday, 14 August 2009 17:41 (sixteen years ago)

Wow that is some world class teevee

I love the Cosmic Beam Experience album, especially that last track. I even kind of like the two songs now.

yeah, been going through that. it's not $200 worth of good, but it's surprisingly great, so much better than the two 'Kluster' CDs he put out on Important last year

André-Jacques Andrieu, Bernard Dumortier - Entomophonia: Chants d'insectes - http://www.sendspace.com/file/yhpvwt

fantastic studio recording of individual insects. original CD has 59 tracks and a lot of narration in French, this is my listening version with the narration mostly edited out

"Here is a part of a work by young San Francisco composer Pauline Oliveros... 'I of IV', it's called... a twenty minute sound experience which unfolds like the mysterious topography of an undiscovered continent... which just might be your own mind"

Marcus Brody Ta-Dow! (Capitaine Jay Vee), Saturday, 29 August 2009 02:44 (sixteen years ago)

xxpost. sorta OT (and you guys may already know about this), but the other day i was reading about Agartha & Lemuria, these imaginary underground worlds, and found out that there were actually fully submerged continents called Zealandia and the Kerguelen Plateau. pretty neat.

jaxon, Saturday, 29 August 2009 02:44 (sixteen years ago)

cutty, feeling The Static Rising. kinda reminds me of that record on darla Bright "Blue Christian"

jaxon, Monday, 31 August 2009 21:30 (sixteen years ago)

love that record^

Trip Maker, Tuesday, 1 September 2009 02:58 (sixteen years ago)

I never heard that or know anything about them but I have a Bright/Fuxa split or collaboration 7" that's on a pink plastic sleeve that's totally great. I'm sure you all have that one, it was ubiquitous for a while.

dan selzer, Tuesday, 1 September 2009 03:30 (sixteen years ago)

i don't have that. but i love "blue christian" like crazy. i van vonderen that record.

HURL CROCKERY AT THE MOSQUE (GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ), Tuesday, 1 September 2009 08:27 (sixteen years ago)

My friend had the split 7" I remember it being pretty good.
Other Bright lp's don't really stand up to Blue Christian, imo, but they have their moments. Really love "The Res" from their 96 s/t album.

Trip Maker, Tuesday, 1 September 2009 16:37 (sixteen years ago)

They have close ties to Ba Da Bing! Records, iirc.

Trip Maker, Tuesday, 1 September 2009 16:37 (sixteen years ago)

i really enjoyed bright in the 90s!

cutty, Tuesday, 1 September 2009 17:25 (sixteen years ago)

btw, thanks jax0n!
