Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Monday, 27 March 2006 21:05 (twenty years ago)

I've got plans on 4/1 (my bandmates' 40th) and 4/4 (Yankees @ Oakland).

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Monday, 27 March 2006 21:11 (twenty years ago)

I arrive on 4/2, I will miss the Yanc3y. ;_;

YANKEES AT OAKLAND THO SOUNDS FUCKING AWESOME haha I was actually just about to look up the schedule. We are staying at Castle Inn. want to have SF noize drinks?

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Monday, 27 March 2006 21:17 (twenty years ago)

legendary wakebro steve shasta,

what is your favourite joke by "america's funnyman" neil hamburger? I am partial to the "paparazzi photographer with a heart of gold" one myself.

haitch (haitch), Monday, 27 March 2006 21:29 (twenty years ago)

Allyz,

Noize drinks are cool. Maybe we can lure out milton, jax0n, adamrl, kyle, m. white, aja, callum, dr3w d@niel, gareth, and burmakitty!

Steve

haitch,

Definitely Neil's material on the Great Phone Calls LP/CD/CS (each format on the Amarillo pressings had different content). Neil's tour of Australia is legendary, were you in the audience?

Steve

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Monday, 27 March 2006 21:38 (twenty years ago)

I seem to be tied up everytime he's out here. the worst was missing his appearance with the hard-ons at a show that a friend of mine saw - they improvised a cover of "ace of spades" with neil's chorus being "the ace of spades / it's better than a case of AIDS"!

haitch (haitch), Monday, 27 March 2006 21:59 (twenty years ago)

steven shasta,

can you please make sure aja comes to SF noise drinks?

also, you called this weekend, but i was too hungover to answer the phone. do you hate me. let's talk.

also, did i ever tell you the story about my college roommate who was working at a firehouse. one of the firemen asked him if he'd taken his new girlfriend to the ol' SF. my roommate said "san francisco, no we haven't been there yet" and the fireman said "no the ol' Stink Finger".

toodles,
jason

team jaxon (jaxon), Monday, 27 March 2006 22:53 (twenty years ago)

I had record faire questions, it's cool.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Monday, 27 March 2006 22:56 (twenty years ago)

plz to have aja at SF noize drinks, i like people saying "what" at me, it makes me think of good old captain sensible.

anyway how is the seating, at le baseball stadium? becuz tix situation for all three games is bad. or should i give up and just go see them in b'more??

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Monday, 27 March 2006 23:16 (twenty years ago)

AZ,

Well, it's in Oakland which isn't THAT close to SF (about 45 minutes subway/walk from downtown SF)... But for tix, try craigslist.org for better seats (@ what price?).

The Coliseum is HUGE, it's a true football stadium (OAKLAND RAIDERS) but to see the A's (low payroll) vs. the Yankees (high payroll) is a classic David/Goliath parable for the ages.

NOIZE DRINKS will be interesting... let's start a thread. Is your fiance coming as well?

Steve

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Monday, 27 March 2006 23:33 (twenty years ago)

steve shasta,

SF has the zipcar style so a trip to Oakland is not so bad and really might even be fun! says the person with no drivers licence. however, the seats... :\ i am v. spoiled with my lower level seating over the years.

thank you for starting a thread. you rule and one day i hope to be as good a wakeboarder as you.

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Monday, 27 March 2006 23:56 (twenty years ago)

dear steve shasta,

i hope we are going out for sushi when you are in nyc?

waiting...

lp

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 27 March 2006 23:58 (twenty years ago)

SF has the zipcar style so a trip to Oakland is not so bad and really might even be fun!

Similar to Manhattan rushhour scenarios, walking and taking the subway is faster than driving across the Bay Bridge and then the 880 rush hour crunch on game day. Unless you leave the city before 4:00pm...

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Monday, 27 March 2006 23:59 (twenty years ago)

shasta deleted the sushi thread

cutty (mcutt), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 00:00 (twenty years ago)

It turned into a thread about Radiohead and all you can eat buffets in Long Island dudes, so not sushi.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 00:01 (twenty years ago)

it was the sushi appreciation thread

cutty (mcutt), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 00:01 (twenty years ago)

I am with him, if it gets to be about Radiohead it's time to put it out of its misery.

He is probably also right, about the transportation, but I freaking love being in a car.

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 00:03 (twenty years ago)

i don't even remember that.

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 00:05 (twenty years ago)

More on point:

Lauren, it would be my (our?) honor. It will probably be Seki (UES) late on Thursday night. I'll get more details as they develop.

[mod delete haha]Shasta!!!

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 00:14 (twenty years ago)

i want to eat sushi with shasta

cutty (mcutt), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 00:16 (twenty years ago)

He is probably also right, about the transportation, but I freaking love being in a car.

You will love 2 hours to go 20 miles with lots of people cutting you off only to slam on their brakes. YMMV

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 00:16 (twenty years ago)

dear steve shasta,

the honor will be all mine.

for some reason, i have two copies of the chains and black exhaust comp. should i try to sell one? would be worth the effort? you know i'm kind of lazy.

always,
lp

lauren (laurenp), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 19:58 (twenty years ago)

you know what's fucked up? I honestly have no idea if Steve Shasta is a famous professional wakeboarder or if that's just a noize joke. It's also possible that there is a famous wakeboarding steve shasta, but he's not the guy on this board. I just don't know.

Dan I. (Dan I.), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 20:27 (twenty years ago)

Steve Shasta also worked driving deliveries for the fish house, and he had also gone to Capeside High, graduating the year before Pacey. Pacey vaguely remembered him from high school, only knowing that he was part of a group that always hung out at Seaside Park, most usually getting stoned.

Special Agent Gene Krupa (orion), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 20:29 (twenty years ago)

Is this wakeboarding legend steve shasta in action?

Dan I. (Dan I.), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 20:30 (twenty years ago)

Hey, you can just call me "Shasta" dude.

But yeah, there are some incredibly legendary wakeboarders in the International Wakeboarding Hall Of Fame down in Carlsbad, California... and I feel very proud and priveleged to be considered by my peers as one of them.

Shakah brah,
Steve Shasta

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 20:31 (twenty years ago)

dear steve shasta,

on another thread years ago that i just kind of skimmed, napa valley/sonoma recommendations were promised but never given (becuz the person promised did not ever follow up and say "yes I need them"). do you have any now?

xo

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 20:44 (twenty years ago)

That's a tough one, there's soooo many:

Barnett Vineyards (St. Helena) - APPT ONLY, CALL AHEAD
Domaine Chandon (Yountville)
Cakebread (Rutherford)
V. Sattui (Oakville) - only place in the world to get their wines
Opus One (Oakville)
Trefethen (Yountville)
Grgich Hills (Carneros)
Frogs Leap (Rutherford)

and that's just Napa
Ravenswood in Sonoma is great, there are tons in Anderson Valley that are just as good/better than the Napa Valley.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 20:57 (twenty years ago)

Also, make an appointment for the FREE Anchor Brewery tour during the week (M-F only). It's pretty amazing, but it's only open to 20 people a day.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 21:02 (twenty years ago)

Cakebread would be awesome but I am fearful of being suckered into buying v expensive cases of wine there. I like this V. Sattui thing though it sounds counter-productive to my "v. expensive" ban. Hmmm.

xpost I had no idea Anchor Brewery was free. Tom might've already done that when he lived in Monterey but that's a good idea!

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 21:06 (twenty years ago)

Is TOM coming with you?

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 21:17 (twenty years ago)

YES

but this is not ask allyzay.

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Tuesday, 28 March 2006 21:21 (twenty years ago)

GOOD! (Sorry)

Trefethen and Grgich also happen to make very good wines

gabbneb (gabbneb), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 20:29 (twenty years ago)

Yes, as do the others.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 29 March 2006 20:40 (twenty years ago)
