Fred,

Okey dokey, but I really have no idea how to play! Don't kick my butt.

PS: How is Marky P.? :-(

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Friday, 17 March 2006 15:06 (twenty years ago)

Still recovering from the 2003 NLDS, apparently. Why don't you ask Dusty Breaker. How about Barry -- still on the clear?

felicity (felicity), Saturday, 18 March 2006 00:05 (twenty years ago)

SeƱor Shasta, have you ever seen something like this in your years of wakeboarding?

Steve Shasta,

Why is everyone on the Boredoms list a total moron?

f,

That's a good question for Giason Giambi, 2005's COMEBACK PLAYER OF THE YAER!

jax0n,

3rd point malibu, a sealion got a dude's big toe, ripped the flesh right off. I paddled in to see what the guy was shrieking about and between the crowd of people around him I got a brief glimpse of the bloody stumpy bone.

JW,
You made me laugh!

ha!

j blount (papa la bas), Wednesday, 22 March 2006 18:23 (twenty years ago)

H,

I think you're getting the hang of these "ask" threads. Wait, did you get fired?

Steve

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 22 March 2006 18:51 (twenty years ago)

no, steve. you should revive a thread about me to ask that question, maybe?

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 22 March 2006 18:56 (twenty years ago)

I don't get your question dude!

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 22 March 2006 19:04 (twenty years ago)

just joeks at a certain creepy wanna-benoizeboreder's expense, no worries.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 22 March 2006 19:05 (twenty years ago)

i'm out of the loop, you got to fill us old dudes in.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 22 March 2006 19:15 (twenty years ago)

I'm not creepy :(

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Wednesday, 22 March 2006 19:16 (twenty years ago)

check ilm for threads featuring the name "c0sl0y" in the title.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 22 March 2006 19:34 (twenty years ago)

Nice, I might buy that game!

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 22 March 2006 19:42 (twenty years ago)

1. I don't get why it's creepy -- because you work for him? My point in reviving that thread was that the PFM item was all "Indie rock? Baseball? What are these two crazy things doing together?" -- without pointing out that the head honcho behind the label at the heart of this story is a huge baseball fan, and so, you know, maybe that had something to do with it.

2. Re "Wanna-benoizeboarder" -- so who are the TRUE noizeboarders, anyway? I wasn't aware that Noise Board membership was determined by anything other than, uh, posting on the Noise Board.

Should you break it to gbx and Stormy Davis, or should I?

it's creepy because it would've been far more appropriate on a thread about matador or the bands that will be on the game, instead of a thread about gerard being hassled by good ol' je$$ica h0pper.

2. Re "Wanna-benoizeboarder" -- so who are the TRUE noizeboarders, anyway? I wasn't aware that Noise Board membership was determined by anything other than, uh, posting on the Noise Board.

oh how does the memory decline. true noizeborders probably aren't all over the enemy list, or constantly made fun of, or thought of as creepy. but you might want to ask steve shasta, maybe, since this is the ask steve shasta thread?

dear steve,

i hope we get staff copies! maybe if there are extras, would you like one?

best,

h

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 22 March 2006 20:18 (twenty years ago)

H,

sure, no problem if not!

jaymc's memory is either: really amazing or really creepy! but i am just jealous, i can't even remember what old blues song that Yaz's "Don't Go" rips-off.

Steve

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 22 March 2006 20:22 (twenty years ago)

But really jaymc, don't open yourself up to NOIZE PARIAH-dom* by posting that tasty morsel on ILM of all places.

*The irony is that jaymc scared g3r@rd off of ILB.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Wednesday, 22 March 2006 20:30 (twenty years ago)

steve,

hahaha he did? i don't recall that. post a link/

I dunno, I just searched for "c0sl0y" and that's what came up. If there was a less inflammatory thread with his name in the title, that's what I would've chosen.

true noizeborders probably aren't all over the enemy list, or constantly made fun of, or thought of as creepy.

There is a kernel of truth here, I suppose. But I'd ask "made fun of" by whom? "Thought of as creepy" by whom? If you and Stormy Davis (who isn't even a true noizeborder since he lives in Chicago) say I'm creepy but no one else gives a shit, does that still count? You're very close to saying that a true noizeborder is someone that's approved by other true noizeborders, which seems circular.

Dear Steve Shasta,

What do you think?

Love Jaymc

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 22 March 2006 20:33 (twenty years ago)

hahaha he did? i don't recall that. post a link

There's no link because Commissioner Shasta vigilantly deleted my post, which "rang a little too much towards the pointing-out-the-obvious" and was "frankly, lame."

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 22 March 2006 20:38 (twenty years ago)

I've got plans on 4/1 (my bandmates' 40th) and 4/4 (Yankees @ Oakland).

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Monday, 27 March 2006 21:11 (twenty years ago)

I arrive on 4/2, I will miss the Yanc3y. ;_;

YANKEES AT OAKLAND THO SOUNDS FUCKING AWESOME haha I was actually just about to look up the schedule. We are staying at Castle Inn. want to have SF noize drinks?

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Monday, 27 March 2006 21:17 (twenty years ago)

legendary wakebro steve shasta,

what is your favourite joke by "america's funnyman" neil hamburger? I am partial to the "paparazzi photographer with a heart of gold" one myself.

haitch (haitch), Monday, 27 March 2006 21:29 (twenty years ago)

Allyz,

Noize drinks are cool. Maybe we can lure out milton, jax0n, adamrl, kyle, m. white, aja, callum, dr3w d@niel, gareth, and burmakitty!

Steve

haitch,

Definitely Neil's material on the Great Phone Calls LP/CD/CS (each format on the Amarillo pressings had different content). Neil's tour of Australia is legendary, were you in the audience?

Steve

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Monday, 27 March 2006 21:38 (twenty years ago)

I seem to be tied up everytime he's out here. the worst was missing his appearance with the hard-ons at a show that a friend of mine saw - they improvised a cover of "ace of spades" with neil's chorus being "the ace of spades / it's better than a case of AIDS"!

haitch (haitch), Monday, 27 March 2006 21:59 (twenty years ago)

steven shasta,

can you please make sure aja comes to SF noise drinks?

also, you called this weekend, but i was too hungover to answer the phone. do you hate me. let's talk.

also, did i ever tell you the story about my college roommate who was working at a firehouse. one of the firemen asked him if he'd taken his new girlfriend to the ol' SF. my roommate said "san francisco, no we haven't been there yet" and the fireman said "no the ol' Stink Finger".

toodles,
jason

team jaxon (jaxon), Monday, 27 March 2006 22:53 (twenty years ago)

I had record faire questions, it's cool.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Monday, 27 March 2006 22:56 (twenty years ago)

plz to have aja at SF noize drinks, i like people saying "what" at me, it makes me think of good old captain sensible.

anyway how is the seating, at le baseball stadium? becuz tix situation for all three games is bad. or should i give up and just go see them in b'more??

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Monday, 27 March 2006 23:16 (twenty years ago)

AZ,

Well, it's in Oakland which isn't THAT close to SF (about 45 minutes subway/walk from downtown SF)... But for tix, try craigslist.org for better seats (@ what price?).

The Coliseum is HUGE, it's a true football stadium (OAKLAND RAIDERS) but to see the A's (low payroll) vs. the Yankees (high payroll) is a classic David/Goliath parable for the ages.

NOIZE DRINKS will be interesting... let's start a thread. Is your fiance coming as well?

Steve

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Monday, 27 March 2006 23:33 (twenty years ago)

steve shasta,

SF has the zipcar style so a trip to Oakland is not so bad and really might even be fun! says the person with no drivers licence. however, the seats... :\ i am v. spoiled with my lower level seating over the years.

thank you for starting a thread. you rule and one day i hope to be as good a wakeboarder as you.

az rofflesbot

Allyzay Rofflesberger (allyzay), Monday, 27 March 2006 23:56 (twenty years ago)

dear steve shasta,

i hope we are going out for sushi when you are in nyc?

waiting...

lp

lauren (laurenp), Monday, 27 March 2006 23:58 (twenty years ago)

SF has the zipcar style so a trip to Oakland is not so bad and really might even be fun!

Similar to Manhattan rushhour scenarios, walking and taking the subway is faster than driving across the Bay Bridge and then the 880 rush hour crunch on game day. Unless you leave the city before 4:00pm...
