I've been dogsitting for my father and stepmother this weekend.

Indiana, a yorkie mix puppy, is the worst dog. She shits in the house immediately after walks, and leaps up to dining room tables to shred newspapers. Yesterday, she negotiated the dining room chairs (which were correctly placed under the table) to eat my bluetooth headphones and laptop power supply.

JJ, their two year old hound with a troubled past, is the second worst dog. She was found in January guarding her first owner's body after a suicide, was tazered by police, and my stepmother adopted her. After a month she started appreciating what life had to offer, but she still refuses to relieve herself on walks, demanding to be released to her spot on the driveway at precisely 9 AM and 9 PM. She also cries for hours and peels the paint off bedroom doors if separated from humans.

As they're forbidden to enter my father's rooms, I've now spent 2 nights sleeping on a couch with two dogs sleeping atop me. The two of them were happy with this arrangement.

This has reinforced my belief that Teufel, my vacant lot born adopted mutt, is the best dog. He has never once in six years either relieved himself in the house or destroyed anything but designated dog toys. Those, he destroys those in minutes. He has observed the youngsters with evident disgust.

sanpaku how old is Indiana? maybe she'll learn with some more time. poor JJ, though. that is a sad story. your father and stepmother are wonderful for taking her in.

Riley is wonderful.

We are getting a dog on Sunday. Our lovely old Boswell died at Easter in 2017, and we have been sadly dogless long enough.

should have shot and posted some footage of the dead-eyed, yappy dachshund I used to live next door to, just to balance things out. though she probably was a good dog too, deep down inside.

Yappy dogs are unhappy dogs. Dogs bark when they're fearful.

It's really unfortunate that humans have bred so many breeds to be yappy. Imagine being born from a 2-300 year legacy of the most anxiety ridden people.

Sometimes, I walk with a pocket of duck jerky dog treats. I've fed them through fences to yappy dogs (Teufel of course gets his).
