Shelby foote sucks insanely hard in civil war but otherwise its p great imo. i watched first 5 episodes of vietnam on a plane and it was insanely good and i couldn't tell what parts were apologism tho maybe that's more in the later episodes, also i'm ignorant

nah i disagree with this. the imperial nature of the war was made plain, and there’s scenes like a year into their involvement when the American leadership essentially admit they are just staying in to keep up appearances

just because theres some scenes in some of these films that tell the truth doesnt mean hes not giving equal time to various good for nothing schemers liars and dissemblers

true, just noting my impressions

there is a point where it’s mentioned that the american strategy is doing its best at the same time mainstream commentators like Walter Cronkite were leaning into covering student protests and the casualties of the war, acknowledging that there’s an undercurrent of “how america wins” in the narrative of the doc
