more or less than your hair

max, Friday, 1 February 2008 00:16 (eighteen years ago)

i used to work with a plant bar habitue and i'd meet up with him there sometimes. he actually lived in the same building, one floor above.

sanskrit, Friday, 1 February 2008 02:02 (eighteen years ago)

did he live with Neil, Irish ex-pat, Plant Bar manager, who opened up Tuck Shop?

dan selzer, Friday, 1 February 2008 03:37 (eighteen years ago)

why am I suddenly getting the weird memory that I got into a big fight with you because you were throwing a matchbook over my head. Was that you?

dan selzer, Friday, 1 February 2008 03:37 (eighteen years ago)

he lived with another irishman and was tight with d0m K., but i don't think i was around for many of your sets. i certainly never tried to light you on fire!

anth0ny from r1 told me that Hanger Bar is actually a bar by night and fashion boutique by day. i thought that was awfully pretentious until i realized it as a pretty clever use of space.

sanskrit, Friday, 1 February 2008 04:02 (eighteen years ago)

btw, dan, ihus in town tomorrow and performing with sasha (in flagranti, ja)..email me if yr interested cause i prolly cant go

bb, Friday, 1 February 2008 04:32 (eighteen years ago)

I'm going to DJ in DC tomorrow.

There's never been a smarter idea then having your friends live in the apt upstairs from the bar, and even making said friend the managers.

dan selzer, Friday, 1 February 2008 04:44 (eighteen years ago)

have fun; thnks for making memory happen!

bb, Friday, 1 February 2008 04:52 (eighteen years ago)

lauren, Friday, 1 February 2008 14:44 (eighteen years ago)

Dan,
Did you take advantage of Lincoln's B-day suspension of Alternate Side of the Street Parking today?

James Redd and the Blecchs, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 20:02 (eighteen years ago)

I didn't have to. My girlfriend, who's car it is after all, drives to school on tuesdays.

dan selzer, Tuesday, 12 February 2008 20:43 (eighteen years ago)

jaxon, Thursday, 14 February 2008 02:20 (eighteen years ago)

I think anything would work, but glad you're asking because I just ask jeremy to type up the info to fw to you so you can make us an online flyer. expect it soon.

dan selzer, Thursday, 14 February 2008 02:43 (eighteen years ago)

ha. done.

jaxon, Thursday, 14 February 2008 02:46 (eighteen years ago)

q: if jon williams de-indexed this thread, how come i found it on google?

by the way, i was trying to remember that crazy all-in-one mixer/HD/decks/fx device made by, i think DENON, that dan was talking about at some point

Tracer Hand, Saturday, 23 February 2008 14:30 (eighteen years ago)

q: why you googling me?

The Denon HD-2500. I have to say I'm torn now because Pioneer FINALLY came out with a new CDJ, the 400, which has USB for playing songs off a hard-drive. I'm not sure why it's so much cheaper then the CDJ 800 and 1000, what features is it lacking? And you'd still need to buy two of them, whereas with the denon you buy one unit and each platter can load songs from the same drive. Still, you look cooler scratching with the Pionner then with the Denon's goofy little disks.

dan selzer, Saturday, 23 February 2008 14:53 (eighteen years ago)

new ilx-doesn't deindex properly

Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Saturday, 23 February 2008 17:44 (eighteen years ago)

dan i was trying to google for the Denon thing and I knew you'd mentioned it! so i used the "site:ilx" thing and typed in "denon".. this thread was returned.

Tracer Hand, Saturday, 23 February 2008 17:47 (eighteen years ago)

sorry i mean i typed denon and "dan selzer"

Tracer Hand, Saturday, 23 February 2008 17:47 (eighteen years ago)

Capitaine Jay Vee, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 08:13 (eighteen years ago)

Capitaine Jay Vee, Wednesday, 27 February 2008 08:14 (eighteen years ago)

two months pass...

hey dan, i know you like Voice Farm. charly brown just randomly myspaced me (must've googled himself and seen i posted one of their songs on my site) and sent this link

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqzgMhAc3l0

really fucked, bad horror type shit. was he always a cross dresser? apparently there's a new site in the works. wonder if new music too? think i heard one of their later 80s albums and it was kinda so so new wave.

jaxon, Thursday, 8 May 2008 20:59 (eighteen years ago)

dan, do you live in sunnyside?

Michael B, Saturday, 10 May 2008 21:53 (eighteen years ago)

that's a crazy video. I also liked the Tim Gunn guide to Mormon sect fashion that youtube links to it. I've never heard their music past that first LP and the Elevate single.

I live in Woodside, a few blocks from Sunnyside. It's like living in Sunnyside but cheaper, closer to Jackson Heights and better transportation options.

bb, Thursday, 15 May 2008 15:10 (eighteen years ago)

sanskrit, Thursday, 15 May 2008 18:47 (eighteen years ago)

Not if you don't already have a ticket.

It'll show more.

I just pulled out my records. MY GOD LET'S GO SWIMMING IS BRILLIANT.

dan selzer, Thursday, 15 May 2008 19:26 (eighteen years ago)

dan, can you try to play this song?

http://youtube.com/watch?v=tEcZSGUv_ng

jaxon, Thursday, 15 May 2008 22:53 (eighteen years ago)

oh man. Confounded pointed that out when it was new.

The movie was AMAZING. I sat behind Bob Blank, Steve from Audika and Arthur's partner Tom.

Tom, Peter Gordon and Ned Sublette showed up to Heathers, which was packed until late.

Great fun all around.

dan selzer, Friday, 16 May 2008 07:57 (eighteen years ago)

sounds awesome. sorry didn't make it, work's been crazy (triple crown part 2)

dmr, Friday, 16 May 2008 16:49 (eighteen years ago)

been geting my ass kicked at work lately
wanted to get out there so badly but sleep deprivation and totally shattered
THIS IS WHY 30 YEAR OLDS IN NYC DON'T PARTY

sanskrit, Saturday, 17 May 2008 03:21 (eighteen years ago)

reall? 33 year olds chose to "freelance" so they can take a day off if they need to stay out the night before. They don't have to ask permission, but they also barely make enough money to live on. Great stuff!

dan selzer, Saturday, 17 May 2008 16:25 (eighteen years ago)

coming to the UK in late July. May even have a DJ gig. Anybody else need a DJ? Where do I buy records?

dan selzer, Friday, 30 May 2008 04:09 (eighteen years ago)

awesome! where are you playing?

Tracer Hand, Friday, 30 May 2008 04:14 (eighteen years ago)

nothing confirmed yet, so maybe only my iPod. Will let you know.

dan selzer, Friday, 30 May 2008 04:35 (eighteen years ago)

You'll probably find the records ridiculously expensive. Are you gonna be in London?

gnarly sceptre, Friday, 30 May 2008 16:29 (eighteen years ago)

^ otm

jaxon, Friday, 30 May 2008 17:13 (eighteen years ago)

the "dollar records" are all 20 pounds

jaxon, Friday, 30 May 2008 17:14 (eighteen years ago)

I don't care how much they weigh, just so long as they're cheap.

dan selzer, Friday, 30 May 2008 19:13 (eighteen years ago)

London, St. Albans, Manchester, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Katmandu...

I'd actually be fine buying NEW records like what they sell at Picadilly or Phonica and not having to pay the shipping to the US.

dan selzer, Friday, 30 May 2008 19:14 (eighteen years ago)

pure groove records is apparently going to reopen in farringdon by the time you get here:

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2374149631

flashback records in islington:

http://www.flashback.co.uk/

there's a used records shop on essex road that i think you'd really like dan (lots of s'express!) though i can't remember the name of it right now.

and of course rough trade, off brick lane:

http://www.roughtrade.com/site/about.lasso

Tracer Hand, Saturday, 31 May 2008 15:28 (eighteen years ago)

the one on essex road may be called "haggle vinyl"
