^^i went to college who was a serial surprise-dater

he would always ask female friends if they wanted to go check out the symphony/choir/whatever concert and then suggest they get dinner at the cute little swedish restaurant accross the street from the fine arts performance hall. he'd dress real nice and occasionally the girls would be so caught off guard they'd be in a sweatshirt or something because they were just thinking they were walking from thier dorm to dinner and a cheap concert.

the worst part was that it was a small campus and he's always do the same routine! the girls usually knew eachother!

^^unless you are in a LTR having no date in your situation is a v v good idea. you're family/bridesmaid etc. whoever you bring will just be getting drunk, awkwardly overdressed, getting drunk by himself in a sea of strangers. then you'll have to explain how wierd you family is for days afterwards.
