new shoes

I'll have them for years and mainly wear them at the funeral home.

My last semester of college there was a fellow who's only pair of shoes was an absolutely beat pair of Weejuns, after a couple weeks i couldn't bear it any longer, I brought my shoe shine kit to class and taught him how to use it. I explained how long the style had been around and how they dont make quality shoes like they used to, how they can be resoled if they wear out, and how much a new pair would cost if he could find them. I dont know if i came across as helpful or insane.

My new vans were feeling a little rough last week too, but they didn't draw blood.

just took them out of the wash and still very bloody, rewashing on supercycle (+50¢) now

get some borax up in there or something

Don't use bleach on protein stains iirc.

Also ouch man. That sucks.

I don't wear any no-show socks/footie things because when I walk, the heels of my shoes will pull the socks off my heel and the elastic in them makes them bunch up under my arches. Not doing.

I will begrudgingly accept that you may be right but I've tried several kinds and always gotten the same result. I can't even wear ankle socks, like the sporty ones. It's possible my heels are freaks, though, too.

Might try those no-shows. My problem with them is that the women's sizes only go up to 10 and I wear an 11. And men's styles show too much. But those look pretty low cut.

those are very low-cut, also they have rubber grips that minimize slippage.

my favorite feature is that they have a little square-cut hem/seam along the top (as opposed to just an amorphous singular opening like most socks) that seems to go a long way towards keeping them in place

only worn/washed them twice so far but i really like them

I like socks, they provide a comfortable layer between me and my shoes

i've never been able to wear socks when i also have shorts on, it looks very weird imo, not ncessarily on others but definitely me

the very idea of wearing shoes without socks skeezes me out

to be clear i only do not wear socks with canvas shoes, which are what i wear in the summer, this is my way

socks generally are gross tho imo

i tried to like amon's post cuz they other day i went into a shoe store and asked the guy for a pair of shoes that 'looked like they give to old people with diabetes' and he told me uncertainly that i probably needed like, a prescription for shoes like that and they definitely did not carry them. i assured him i just wanted the general aesthetic of hospital administration and did not need them medically. i ended up buying an all-white pair of air max 90s and a pair of white and grey air tavas
