Leeeeeeeeee titles are a thing yes

vyvyan vanse (clouds), Thursday, 9 April 2015 15:46 (eleven years ago)

the whole epics poll idea is something I don't get tbh, I don't really see song length as a coherent unifying concept, maaaybe if you are talking like 45 minutes long? 10 minutes is nothing, it's not really any differnt than polling 3 or 4 minute songs together

marcos, Thursday, 9 April 2015 15:59 (eleven years ago)

i did suggest a longer cut-off length, but it's just an arbitrary way of focusing on longer songs

PORC EPIC SAVVAGE (imago), Thursday, 9 April 2015 16:04 (eleven years ago)

focusing on long songs is arbitrary imo, but to each his own - one of the greatest joys of life is that we are all free to discuss culture on the internet ad infinitum

i know you know that Thukydides was an attempt at transliteration but I was trying to observe that it was an inconsistent one, given the upsilon variation

A classic 'lost in the mists of time' thing to an extent, but I've always assumed it was something from the books of MOLESWORTH, which has contributed much in the way of GRATE slang to ILX. Please refer to the Sunday July 16 2000 entry here from the inestimable I Hate Music where a Molesworth parody is used against the Cocteau Twins in such a manner as to suggest the breeding grounds for FITES!

No this didn't start from Molesworth (he may haf used it but I can't recall it off the top of my head... maybe, but it's not the Molesworth variant that I use at any rate) - it just came into my head when posting "me vs GURLS: FITE" and since then it haf passed into ILx canon, innit.

Any point to any of this? I mean, digging up stuff from 12-13 years ago and sniggering at it?

nakhchivan, Sunday, 3 May 2015 14:29 (eleven years ago)

As ilxor drash recently noted, ilx is in constant dialogue with itself and revivals mean that you do encounter terrible thread title aesthetics of a decade ago, why not snigger if it's sniggerworthy

Pretty sure it's now permanently bonded to the words "wrap," "feta," "fetish," "FAP," etc. etc. Saran Wrap should just give up now and license the name, it's all over.
