Banned on the Run (benbbag), Friday, 20 February 2015 14:54 (eleven years ago)

sort of wrong thread for it, but anybody have any experience with the heaving beast known as A&E Real Estate? They just bought our wmsburg tenement building from Dermot Company, who've had it since 2007. Hoping A&E won't actually be worse than Dermot who were pretty shitty.

(Oh wait SORRY SORRY these are just the management companies not the owners, they have no connection to the owners whatsoever, perish the thought)

What are good activities and places to go to in Brooklyn (FYI I've never been but I'm asking for a friend)

, Wednesday, 18 March 2015 16:47 (eleven years ago)

Think "Britisher who is in town for a week and wants to check out this cool new place called Brooklyn"

I could only recommend Wburg for walking around

Everything else seems like a 'destination' like you just end up there and drink cocktails for 5 hours before going back to your apartment

, Wednesday, 18 March 2015 16:48 (eleven years ago)

my kind of vacation

mh, Wednesday, 18 March 2015 16:48 (eleven years ago)

go to brooklyn heights and walk past the beautiful houses and along the promenade, then go get drinks and dinner at long island bar

chinavision!, Wednesday, 18 March 2015 16:56 (eleven years ago)

brownstone brooklyn is pretty charming, they will say to themselves "oh just like london" and feel comfortable and like they are just as cool as this so called "brooklyn" idk walk across the bk bridge then to the heights promenade through cobble hill on to dinner on smith st

Brooklyn Museum
Brooklyn Botanical Garden
Prospect Park
Coney Island/Boardwalk (some attractions not open this time of year but there's an aquarium there and there's always the historic sights)
Eat the greatest lamb kebabs at Varenichnaya in Brighton Beach (cash only)
Greenwood Cemetery, for a snapshot of the natural Brooklyn landscape plus the resting places of lots of famous people, interesting historical documents, etc.
MTA Transit Museum located in an actual defunct subway station in Downtown Brooklyn

, Wednesday, 18 March 2015 17:02 (eleven years ago)

I'm guess you're joking but the views from the Ikea in Brooklyn are really great, I saw two ladies sitting on one of the display couches looking out the window and it was this idyllic scene which contrasted with everyone else having meltdowns

badg, Wednesday, 18 March 2015 17:12 (eleven years ago)

one time i took a water taxi in the pouring rain

lag∞n, Wednesday, 18 March 2015 17:13 (eleven years ago)

Maybe people think I'm joking but I generally think Ikea's are some of the coolest places I've been xp

, Wednesday, 18 March 2015 17:14 (eleven years ago)

Village East multiplex doing a Hitchcocktober season. I'd not seen it before - curious as to whether the book makes sense at the end or devolves into the same batshit lurid Freudian flailing of the Hitch version. First hour is fun though!

i like batshit lurid Freudian flailing, esp w/ painted shipyard backdrops. r u still here?
