Yeah, Julio, there isn't very much Takemitsu in print is there? Except in Japan I suppose.

This guy thinks 'Fosen' is the name of the CD: http://www.discogs.com/release/188420

Brakhage (brakhage), Wednesday, 12 October 2005 18:57 (twenty years ago)

ha, yeah and I've also read that it's a self-titled record by the band Fosen on a label called NNC. I wish I knew who it was!

Anenzephalia - die sender müssen schweigen (side 1)

Good timing with the thread revival ... I'd been meaning to post this track. I was browsing somebody's slsk folder and they had a lot of good noise and ambient. I figured their taste was reliable so I d/l'ed this despite having never heard of the record or the artist. There's a huge Anenzephalia catalogue on Discogs -- can anybody recommend some of his other releases?

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Thursday, 27 October 2005 19:07 (twenty years ago)

Two acid folk albums from italian Armando Piazza (sung in engrish). both w/shawn phillips on guitar. the first is all acoustic and the second has tasty fuzz guitar solos all over it.

from the "agape agape" album, which is not all that good, but it has this one really nice piano/guitar piece

popol vuh "why do i still sleep"

amon (eman), Monday, 5 December 2005 02:08 (twenty years ago)

that's one of my favorite popul vuh songs ever

that and the title track are more than enough reason to get that album

milton parker (Jon L), Monday, 5 December 2005 03:21 (twenty years ago)

ooh that is good. makes a nice bedfellow with this (which happened to come on right after i played the Popol Vuh):

two weeks pass...
hello.

Bizarre doomsday cult chant sermon I got off WFMU a while ago. Primed for sampling, filled with scary (chant and brimstone in the beginning) and then hilarity (endless list of evildoers later on). Enjoy.

John Justen (johnjusten), Wednesday, 28 December 2005 01:54 (twenty years ago)

This field recording is way more amazing than I thought it might be after having just read about it on the Aquarius website. Tuvan auctioneering + pop-cult roll call = mind split open.
Thank you!

Craig Dunsmuir (Craig D.), Sunday, 1 January 2006 02:00 (twenty years ago)

I listened to it about 15 times in a row that night, and I think I broke my last.fm profile.

Either that or judgement was CALLED DOWN.

John Justen (johnjusten), Sunday, 1 January 2006 02:34 (twenty years ago)

thanks for this. negativland sampled this on their helter stupid record.

Primed for sampling = that list of artists runs all through the title track of Mylo's Destroy Rock and Roll.

nabisco (nabisco), Monday, 2 January 2006 22:54 (twenty years ago)

Nabisco, don't you have an mp3 blog or YSI thread to start or something?

Some more from Lou Harrison. This time its a section of his 'Pacifika Rondo' piece from the mid-60s.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Tuesday, 3 January 2006 20:31 (twenty years ago)

haha I submitted something for the jeu de temps/Times Play 2004. I think it's still up but the judges hated it. It probably really wasn't my best work. It's the only contest I've participated in where they actually sent extensive comments and (mostly) criticisms to (I assume) every participant after receiving all the submissions.

HAKKEBOFFER (eman), Saturday, 7 January 2006 06:28 (twenty years ago)

eman, those are fantastic! are there any other tracks on that compliation you have that have more vocals? here's a purely vocal track from some Pygmy children that knocked me sideways the first time i heard it. i think it's among the best things i've ever heard, hope you can play the AAC/M4A file.

jed_ (jed), Sunday, 8 January 2006 20:52 (twenty years ago)

i know we probably dont want to turn this into a request thread, but i wonder if milton would be able to put up that jean-francois laporte track, the skating rink one

terry lennox. (gareth), Sunday, 8 January 2006 21:09 (twenty years ago)

10 Limbindi and Voices
14 Abale
16 Ngonnalati (Ngombi na péké 2)
18 A Capella

jed, the first two here are vocals w/ instruments, the third is another track with just ngombi (stringed instrument) and percussion, and the a capella is similar to the track you posted, which is great btw.

Good times, bros, good times:

Bruce Haack - Electric Lucifer

(n.b. track 2 is missing)

Keith C (lync0), Sunday, 8 January 2006 23:39 (twenty years ago)

excellent keith, i lost my electric lucifer tracks in an external hard-drive meltdown last year. "supernova" is one of my favorite psychedelic tracks.

HAKKEBOFFER (eman), Monday, 9 January 2006 00:11 (twenty years ago)

here's a link to electric lucifer w/all tracks (i believe, i haven't downloaded it)

does anyone have the children's record? i have it, but not sure if i want more haack right now (sorta backlogged listening to stuff). are they way different?

jaxon (jaxon), Monday, 9 January 2006 04:41 (twenty years ago)

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 9 January 2006 05:00 (twenty years ago)

jaxon, that's where I originally got it from. it doesn't have track 2. Unless I f'ed it up somehow.
