^carrot truth bomb

u2 removal machine (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Friday, 24 October 2014 20:06 (eleven years ago)

carrot is a great cooking ingredient, has almost as much positive impact on a lot of dishes as garlic or onion but gets way less credit

my jaw left (Hurting 2), Friday, 24 October 2014 20:08 (eleven years ago)

garlic >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>...carrot

i am sorry but that is the truth as I know it

sarahell, Friday, 24 October 2014 20:09 (eleven years ago)

have to disagree, carrots are great but i don't always want that root vegetable sweetness in my food

marcos, Friday, 24 October 2014 20:10 (eleven years ago)

sarahell otm.

marcos, Friday, 24 October 2014 20:11 (eleven years ago)

probably 90% of the dishes i cook start with onions & garlic. 10% AT BEST start with carrots.

marcos, Friday, 24 October 2014 20:12 (eleven years ago)

carrots are nice and all but they ain't the "workhorse of the kitchen" that onions or garlic are.

marcos, Friday, 24 October 2014 20:12 (eleven years ago)

well they are, but only in the sense imo that a punchy temperamental genius creator like a garlic or an onion needs a watercarrier like carrot just to disperse the beauty

local eire man (darraghmac), Friday, 24 October 2014 20:15 (eleven years ago)

Since we're talking about fictional jobs, I have a friend from high school who woke up one morning and decided that she was not, in fact, a play director/educator of high school students, but instead an intuitive life coach. I have not yet had the heart to ask her how that's working out for her since this also coincided with a divorce and a surprise baby with the dude she cheated on her husband with and I suspect Other Issues may have contributed to this revelation.

surprise babies are now intuitive babies

you joke but every other post about her 5-month-old infant talks about how it is an indigo baby

If you want to boggle at some New Age nonsense, google "indigo children"

didn't we have a hilarious thread about this a few years back?

sarahell, Friday, 24 October 2014 21:14 (eleven years ago)

who among us realized, in the 90s, that he/she was living in the decade of the carrot?

a matter of fuiud aesthetics (rip van wanko), Friday, 24 October 2014 21:15 (eleven years ago)

btw carrots are obvs key as theyre part of the holy mirepoix trinity, believing otherwise is just ignorant

lag∞n, Friday, 24 October 2014 21:17 (eleven years ago)

oh yea they are key, most stocks i'll make will definitely have them, but are they on the level as onion or garlic? pffft

marcos, Friday, 24 October 2014 21:18 (eleven years ago)

did avatar have something to do with indigo children?

Steve 'n' Seagulls and Flock of Van Dammes (forksclovetofu), Friday, 24 October 2014 21:19 (eleven years ago)

onion is obvs the most central ingredient across many dishes and cuisines, garlic is very key but doesnt have quite as strong of a case, anyway they are all key and theres no need to compare them at the level of some dumb facebook person

lag∞n, Friday, 24 October 2014 21:21 (eleven years ago)

tis true

celery is a crucial cooking ingredient esp as base of soups it is true.

xpost

I just laughed at "indigo and outicome" and person I'm with said "what?" and I said "nothing", then she said "no, but what?" and I muttered that it was too complicated to explain, and then started laughing again, which didn't go down v well.

Fizzles, Friday, 24 October 2014 21:38 (eleven years ago)

can someone express an opinion abt leeks pls

mattresslessness, Friday, 24 October 2014 21:39 (eleven years ago)
