Gygax,

I have been offered tickets to a Giants game this Sunday, but this would involve sitting with some rather awkward people. Should I go? Or should I go and see the A's instead sometime? Also I was thinking of going to see the SAN JOSE SHARKS or EARTHQUAKES.

adamrl,

you should go and just ignore the awkward people and embrace the park and "america's sport". you can always just wander around the park all game long and take in the views.

did you ever find out what that brazilian joy division cover band was? sorry i didn't call you back, but i just didn't know the answer. i remember there being a thread on ILM a while back about a band that did bosa nova covers of "cool" songs.

those images appear to be taken from the kawasaki fertility festival, esp. celebrating vigor and strength for men. when giving "cheers" for drinks, refrain from using "chin-chin" among japanese as that is the word for penis and might offend some. "kanpai" would be a much better choice.

one month passes...
This could be for Dean as well.

On the road between Santa Cruz and Aptos I always see a drive-in movie theater next to the northbound side of the PCH.

1. Do you know where I mean?
2. If you do, is it a functional theater?

Lion-O (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 11 October 2005 21:05 (twenty years ago)

Yes and yes. Or at least, they did show movies there as of three years ago. Haven't been back since.

No, Dean is right. But that too is useful information.

I've never been to a drive-thru.

Gygax,

Where you been my whole life?

Sleepless in San Francisco

Dickset! Dickset! Disckset! (jaxon), Tuesday, 11 October 2005 21:15 (twenty years ago)

Jax0n,

I'm not in love, so don't forget it.
It's just a silly phase I'm going through.
And just because I call you up,
Don't get me wrong, don't think you've got it made.

I'm not in love, no no, it's because...

I like to see you, but then again,
That doesn't mean you mean that much to me.
So if I call you, don't make a fuss -
Don't tell your friends about the two of us.

I'm not in love, no no, it's because...

I keep your picture upon the wall.
It hides a nasty stain that's lying there.
So don't you ask me to give it back.
I know you know it doesn't mean that much to me.

I'm not in love, no no, it's because...

Ooh, you'll wait a long time for me.
Ooh, you'll wait a long time.
I'm not in love, I'm not in love...

Friends?

gygax!

Daerest Gygax,

Did you bitch out tonight? They went on really early. got to the show at 9.40 and they were already on their second song. missed both opening acts. the keyboard player reminded me of WFC

Jigga

ps. tampopo was kinda not good. maybe we ordered wrong?

Mad Senti (jaxon), Thursday, 13 October 2005 06:34 (twenty years ago)

Are you familiar with Suishin sake? I have a 1.8 liter bottle of this and was wondering how to drink. Hot or cold?

To bring some sort of closure, I opened the bottle of sake and it was gnarly. Not worth drinking.

I was CRYING when Huell Howser's head exploded in a local feed store (dr g), Thursday, 13 October 2005 06:44 (twenty years ago)

haha. 1 year later?!

i actually just opened a bottle of saki that was over a year old and it was the crap. there're no preservatives in it

Mad Senti (jaxon), Thursday, 13 October 2005 06:55 (twenty years ago)

I opened it like a month ago and I think it was a year old by the time I asked the question that started this thread. I kind of like the idea of having this gigantic two year old bottle of sake in my fridge. I don't think that drinking it was ever really much of an option.

I was CRYING when Huell Howser's head exploded in a local feed store (dr g), Thursday, 13 October 2005 07:07 (twenty years ago)

jax0n:
you better believe I bitched out. i got a call after yours about Tom Carter playing by your house and i ended up bitching out on that too. but that's crazy about the Fillmore, was it all ages or something?

deano:
Unopened sake keeps fine for years, remember it is fermented (ie, rotten) rice millet and is (hopefully) sealed airtight upon purchase.

On the other hand, I would not keep unopened sake in the fridge for 2 years of storage though as that's a little too cold. Maybe chill prior to serving and after opening. Once you open a bottle you should try to make it through that bottle as quickly as possible, which makes 1.8L a bit of a chore.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 13 October 2005 14:10 (twenty years ago)

also!

store your bottles (as is the case with everything from whiskey to wine to beer) out of direct sunlight.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 13 October 2005 14:13 (twenty years ago)

really?

Lion-O (nordicskilla), Thursday, 13 October 2005 14:15 (twenty years ago)

or don't, this is America.

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 13 October 2005 14:24 (twenty years ago)

And Jax0n, about dinner, I told you to go to Powell's and warned you about that noodle place!
