Can anyone show me a Southern Thai restaurant?
xp-yeah I could maybe do USA game, or some of it. I'm leaving late that day and trying to cram in all the food/culture I can before I wander back into the deep woods.

― caek, Sunday, 22 June 2014 20:42 (twelve years ago)
OK let's just talk about transcendent food experiences we've had in any of the five boroughs. I'm prepared to travel
― maybe/whatever/so what/boring (admrl), Sunday, 22 June 2014 20:44 (twelve years ago)
Mission chinese would be fun and punchy and you wouldn't need any special guidance
― 龜, Sunday, 22 June 2014 20:45 (twelve years ago)
I guess another transcendent food experience would be sushi - Sushi Yasuda, for example, and obviously very conducive to dining alone
There's one in the UES that I haven't been to but my friend says is good, catch is you have to travel there and write your name down for the res, they don't take phone ones
Expensive though, probably minimum of $50
― 龜, Sunday, 22 June 2014 21:23 (twelve years ago)
Not remotely transcendent, but if you're getting in really late, and depending where exactly near Penn Station you are, Skylight Diner on 34th @ 9th is a totally passable all-night place. Nothing special but it's not gross and it's not exorbitant. French onion soup's aight.
― Doctor Casino, Sunday, 22 June 2014 23:31 (twelve years ago)
koreatown is up around 33rd and directly east of penn station. there are lots and lots of great places to eat there if that's yr thing.
― everybody loves lana del raymond (s.clover), Monday, 23 June 2014 00:00 (twelve years ago)
The most transcendent food experiences (that also won't be too expensive) are in Flushing tbh
But nobody will ever go there

I always book travel through JFK rather than lga telling myself I'll save money and take the subway there and back-- I'm always late as fuck on my departure and burnt as fuck on my return and end up getting a cab both ways. I guess I'm saying worth it IMO. Except the elevated track ride from JFK to wmsburg does show you some interesting backsides of queens and Brooklyn.

Think it's mandated by law that it's a flat fare between JFK and ... Manhattan? Not sure how much of BKLYN is included in that
I don't think there's any food at all in Williamsburg
