Good thing Mr Immobile here ducked into a library. I should be there by 3:15. Is there food at GG?

I'm staying in Chelsea Tuesday-Thursday and I literally have not been to that neighborhood in close to 15 years. But I chose it as it's close to Penn Station and I found a cheap airbnb. Is there anywhere that isn't exorbitantly expensive to eat around there? I wanna eat some interesting food when I get in, probably on the late side, and nowhere where I will feel weird eating alone.

Also looking for recommendations for art spaces to check out, not museums or commercial galleries, I know about those.

Oh and I suppose somewhere to watch the fucking world cup

caek, Sunday, 22 June 2014 20:07 (eleven years ago)

yeah izakaya is good i recommend it, they put like an entire stick of butter on the cod

caek, Sunday, 22 June 2014 20:08 (eleven years ago)

Can anyone show me a Southern Thai restaurant?

xp-yeah I could maybe do USA game, or some of it. I'm leaving late that day and trying to cram in all the food/culture I can before I wander back into the deep woods.

maybe/whatever/so what/boring (admrl), Sunday, 22 June 2014 20:09 (eleven years ago)

caek, Sunday, 22 June 2014 20:42 (eleven years ago)

OK let's just talk about transcendent food experiences we've had in any of the five boroughs. I'm prepared to travel

maybe/whatever/so what/boring (admrl), Sunday, 22 June 2014 20:44 (eleven years ago)

Mission chinese would be fun and punchy and you wouldn't need any special guidance

, Sunday, 22 June 2014 20:45 (eleven years ago)

I guess another transcendent food experience would be sushi - Sushi Yasuda, for example, and obviously very conducive to dining alone

There's one in the UES that I haven't been to but my friend says is good, catch is you have to travel there and write your name down for the res, they don't take phone ones

Expensive though, probably minimum of $50

, Sunday, 22 June 2014 21:23 (eleven years ago)

Not remotely transcendent, but if you're getting in really late, and depending where exactly near Penn Station you are, Skylight Diner on 34th @ 9th is a totally passable all-night place. Nothing special but it's not gross and it's not exorbitant. French onion soup's aight.

Doctor Casino, Sunday, 22 June 2014 23:31 (eleven years ago)

koreatown is up around 33rd and directly east of penn station. there are lots and lots of great places to eat there if that's yr thing.

everybody loves lana del raymond (s.clover), Monday, 23 June 2014 00:00 (eleven years ago)

The most transcendent food experiences (that also won't be too expensive) are in Flushing tbh

But nobody will ever go there
