My dad used to rock them all the time. I think he actually called them galoshes. Wearing them reminds me of my dad in a very strong way.

Burt Stuntin (Hurting 2), Tuesday, 18 February 2014 22:55 (twelve years ago)

i call them galoshes even though i know that's incorrect

I was at a store & thought about getting some Palladium waterproof boots

http://www.palladiumboots.com/category/categories/waterproof

(Lol at the blog post with the title Blood Orange)

But after the import tax a pair was like $200 USD

Think I might just buy a pair of cheap shoes with a thick sole and a can of Scotchgard

, Wednesday, 19 February 2014 00:27 (twelve years ago)

these are what i got last weekend:

http://i.imgur.com/6ZkBsxg.jpg

the label says they're made by HH Brown but when i google i can't find them and it looks like that company is a conglomerate of a bunch of different footwear brands now?

anyway they're nothing i'd ever decide to buy on my own but the sales guy had me try them on and i really like them. they're not insulated but they're waterproof and look sharp enough to wear on a date or something.

These may be the ugliest shoes I've ever owned. It doesn't stop me from wearing them. I even bought a backup pair for when these wear out. Why? Excellent fit and comfort for walking and hiking.

xp those are nice, gr80.

my lands end moc/chukka boots aren't waterproof but they were resistant enough to get through a full day of slush-walking today.

I've been posting about and turning people onto Brooks Cascadias for years. Every year they get more comfortable and even uglier.

dan selzer, Wednesday, 19 February 2014 02:07 (twelve years ago)

two months pass...

these are stupid and i shouldn't buy them, right?

Oh god

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 14:33 (twelve years ago)

oh c'mon this is Grady we're talking about--of course he should buy them!

mom tossed in kimchee (quincie), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 14:49 (twelve years ago)

Not even gr80

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 14:51 (twelve years ago)

There's a point where dressing like a douchebag as a joke and skirting closer and closer to the bright line of knowingness actually crosses over into being the joke, and those shoes have already sailed that particular Strait of Magellan.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 14:53 (twelve years ago)

yeah actually the execution on those shoes looks el cheapo

mom tossed in kimchee (quincie), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 14:54 (twelve years ago)

They're Sperrys, so probably not bad but not as rugged as they used to be, either.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 14:59 (twelve years ago)

i have thought about these shoes way too much, only course of action is to live the rest of my life as if they never crossed my path

°ㅇ๐ْ ° (gr8080), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 15:14 (twelve years ago)

i dont object to a shoe with an anchor print, but not on brown leather and not on a driving moc.

this i can get into:

call all destroyer, Wednesday, 30 April 2014 15:21 (twelve years ago)

i'd never wear those but i agree w/ you regardless

°ㅇ๐ْ ° (gr8080), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 15:22 (twelve years ago)

Yeah, I hate but grudgingly respect top-siders--probably more than the people who wear them. I have no defensible reason for this except that they remind me of summer, I guess. Not yet found any speck of redemption for driving shoes though.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 15:28 (twelve years ago)

why is it so hard to find shoes that will stand up to 12 hour days on the feets but don't look ugly?

mom tossed in kimchee (quincie), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 15:30 (twelve years ago)

Dansko clogs sizing doesn't work for me--are there other "good" clog options?

mom tossed in kimchee (quincie), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 15:31 (twelve years ago)

There are definitely more expensive ones.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 16:38 (twelve years ago)

Oh geez I already think the danskos are too pricey!

mom tossed in kimchee (quincie), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 17:01 (twelve years ago)

During my brief stint in retail the most important thing for me was changing my shoes at some point during the shift--even "comfortable" running shoes intended for my arch type made me cramp up after 4-5 hours. And I still had to periodically ice my arches and ankles at night if I was working 3-5 days in a row. In short, I don't have a good answer to this problem.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 17:06 (twelve years ago)

If I stayed at that job I was going to buy some of the Crocs non-clog styles, tbqh. I also looked at Campers but those are maybe nicer than you wanted.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 17:07 (twelve years ago)

I will check out Campers! And the switching shoes mis-shift is a great idea. Hopefully I will have a locker or something and won't have to schlep multiple pairs of shoes too and fro.

mom tossed in kimchee (quincie), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 17:16 (twelve years ago)

I have owned I think five different pairs of Campers, and although they are considerably pricier than what I usually buy, they have all been well worth it. I still have and regularly wear two of them. The only thing that sucks about them is that some of them have weird soles that make them hard to resole -- I had those soft leather shoes with the bubble soles and I loved them but the shoe repair guy was like "I can't do anything with these" when they needed new soles.

Doritos Loco Parentis (Hurting 2), Wednesday, 30 April 2014 18:27 (twelve years ago)

Yeah I never thought of Campers as being a resoleable shoe - they do last for quite a long time though.

Just bought these for when I need to run around and catch trains and planes and stuff:

°ㅇ๐ْ ° (gr8080), Friday, 30 May 2014 14:19 (twelve years ago)

Apology accepted. Nice shoes btw.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Friday, 30 May 2014 14:34 (twelve years ago)

yeah i like those. i'd like to integrate more navy blue into my wardrobe.

call all destroyer, Friday, 30 May 2014 14:38 (twelve years ago)

really like those gr8080, might have to cop your style (probably different color though, I wear too much blue already).

Doritos Loco Parentis (Hurting 2), Friday, 30 May 2014 15:39 (twelve years ago)

they have a lot of nice styles on the site. Do they run more to the narrow or wide side?

Doritos Loco Parentis (Hurting 2), Friday, 30 May 2014 15:41 (twelve years ago)

navy blue 4eva

these were on sale but i just couldnt do it

http://i.imgur.com/L6lW0kM.jpg

°ㅇ๐ْ ° (gr8080), Friday, 30 May 2014 15:49 (twelve years ago)

Doritos Loco Parentis (Hurting 2), Friday, 30 May 2014 15:55 (twelve years ago)

Shoulda bought those too and then wore a different color on each foot

, Friday, 30 May 2014 15:56 (twelve years ago)

°ㅇ๐ْ ° (gr8080), Friday, 30 May 2014 15:59 (twelve years ago)

Bought a pair of http://0.tqn.com/d/sneakers/1/0/i/N/-/-/airwalk-rio.jpg

and also some navy & white striped slip-ons. Feel like I'm covered for summer with these two, maybe a plain white canvas pair down the road.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Friday, 30 May 2014 20:39 (twelve years ago)

my other summer kicks are some brown horsebit loafers, will post pixx later

°ㅇ๐ْ ° (gr8080), Friday, 30 May 2014 20:50 (twelve years ago)

Of course they are.

Orson Wellies (in orbit), Friday, 30 May 2014 21:11 (twelve years ago)

i got my three-year-old zuriicks re-finished and re-soled this week, almost better than new shoes!!

http://i.imgur.com/DFmovSB.jpg

the dude who owns the shoe repair shop near me is so rad. this is going to sound like a stupid thing to say but: talking to him about shoes is like talking to an architect about buildings or a scientist about science, i could do it for hours. he used a machine that is 100 years old to put those soles on!!!

°ㅇ๐ْ ° (gr8080), Friday, 6 June 2014 18:48 (twelve years ago)

i love shoes but i feel like i cant talk about them seriously w/o sounding like some gross menswear blogger dude

dude (Lamp), Friday, 6 June 2014 18:55 (twelve years ago)

Does he have a strong opinion on TOPY xp

, Friday, 6 June 2014 18:58 (twelve years ago)

TOPY?

°ㅇ๐ْ ° (gr8080), Friday, 6 June 2014 19:01 (twelve years ago)

Rubber sheets you can glue onto your leather soles to improve traction

, Friday, 6 June 2014 19:01 (twelve years ago)
