perhaps the first article I've read about Boredoms/Eye that has been remotely revealing

Spending more time as a DJ, Eye conceived Super Roots 9 while tweaking with the pitch shifter of his turntable. He started by creating tonal compositions, manipulating the pipe organ recordings of minimalist composer Jon Gibson.
that means it'd be side 1 of this: http://www.amazon.com/Two-Solo-Pieces-Cycles-Untitled/dp/B00004VJYU

Cycles, yeah.
― Whiney G. Weingarten, Wednesday, 9 April 2008 19:41 (eighteen years ago)
cycles
this is the CD, reissued in 2000. In college (early 90's) I made a cassette that was just this piece twice on each side, but I don't miss noisy vinyl with music like this

bonus tracks are good too if you're into 'Four Organs' & 'Changing Parts'

I wonder if Gibson even knows that from 2001-2004 all of the tonal material of Voordoms shows was 100% derived from a CDJ playing his piece, or knows about 'Super Roots 9', I think he'd be happy. also wish we knew the name of the superfan conductor who transcribed / notated the piece
more thanks for that article btw, this is kind of an amazing connection & it's just weird the news is only coming out now 7 years later
― Milton Parker, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:02 (eighteen years ago)
I bet Gibson is gonna know once he gets 700 emails from SpaceIzDaFace at gmail dot com asking for records
― Whiney G. Weingarten, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:16 (eighteen years ago)
he's probably not a total square - apparently he played on "first thought, best thought"
― moonship journey to baja, Thursday, 10 April 2008 21:54 (eighteen years ago)
from 2001-2004 all of the tonal material of Voordoms shows was 100% derived from a CDJ playing his piece,
That's incorrect
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Thursday, 10 April 2008 22:27 (eighteen years ago)
yes well that is an overstatement. all I remember from the 2001 show was a) man he's really overdoing it with the organ pitching and b) MAN do I miss yamamotor
― Milton Parker, Thursday, 10 April 2008 23:08 (eighteen years ago)
thweet article christopher - love that band
― jhøshea, Friday, 11 April 2008 00:30 (eighteen years ago)
jon gibson is awes i got one his things two months ago but to drunk to remember. ian knew what it was the second i mentiond his name. its not the organ pipes one though. its on chatham square.
― sanskrit, Friday, 11 April 2008 03:15 (eighteen years ago)
Forced Exposure sold sealed vinyl copies of Gibson's "Two Solo Pieces" on Chatham for years... that's where I got mine like 6 or seven years ago. They must have had a couple remaindered boxes of the thing
