Re:Terry and Don: I've got something called Scandinavian Radio Sessions 1965-1971 in Mpeg-4. Guess that's not what you are after? Song titles include Ying Yang, The Whole World Catalogue, The Celestial Reflection, etc. Looks like it includes the stuff in the above link, too, maybe?

Trip Maker, Tuesday, 1 July 2008 14:21 (eighteen years ago)

Also have "Descending Moonshine Dervishes" credited to Terry Riley with Don Cherry and is v nice. 19:47 in length. Let me know if you want any of this.

Trip Maker, Tuesday, 1 July 2008 14:28 (eighteen years ago)

^^^ I'd like to hear that

this sounds right... the one i'm looking for is riley/cherry only, do the radio sessions have other folks? i'm so confused. DLing dervishes.

GOTT PUNCH II HAWKWINDZ, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 02:51 (eighteen years ago)

I think the radio sessions do have other folks. I listen to that track that I posted a lot more than the radio sessions. Don doesn't start playing along until about five minutes in. I can't remember where I got this track and I don't have any details about the origins, either.

Trip Maker, Wednesday, 2 July 2008 13:27 (eighteen years ago)

someone posted this about it on a music board

Terry Riley & Don Cherry "Descending Moonshine Dervishes" (Köln Concert 2/23/75?, bootleg)

I was recently surprised to discover that Cherry had collaborated with the minimalist composer Terry Riley, a testament to Cherry's embrace of all music. I've come to call this bootleg the drone-jazz version of Fripp & Eno's Evening Star, which is a slight misnomer, but I bet Eno wish he'd thought of it first. Cherry lets out somber tones on his cornet (again citing Bill Dixon if ever so discreetly) as Riley repeats trance-like figures on keyboards.
