cause the notion here is that we have to talk about personal transformation if we're interested in social transformation, and that when it comes to quietly lusting over random strangers one can be playing a part in the upkeep of patriarchy if one's internal life is reinforcing all the usuals.

it's not about self-policing thoughts altogether, or anything like fighting the biological imperative. it's just about understanding the power differential and being mindful of the ways we can reproduce it or instead work to subvert it in our lives, whether in real interactions with women or in the interactions with women we allow ourselves to imagine.

you could ask to what meaningful degree power relations matter in the fantasy space between your ears, but it seems to me and iirc studies have shown that the attitudes we cultivate and nurture have a real effect on the way we move through the world, so imo part of dismantling patriarchy means confronting and challenging it even when it appears in quiet lust over strangers.
