― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Friday, 31 August 2007 17:09 (eighteen years ago)
dan, i just hit up a 7,000 piece collection down here in BK that was sort of jazz oriented but with some dance 12"s. i even got that macho record. tons of bohannon and cerrone and good stuff i couldn't carry out and left behind.
let me know if you're game for a visit. same goes for dmr and ian (and any anyone else interested). i'd rather you guys get the goods before the dealer vultures do.

Hey people. Thanks for coming out thursday night. The ILX contigent and 3 other people I know were the only people I knew who showed up. And yeah, imagine my suprise, after sitting there from like 10:30 to 1am, when suddenly the place was packed and we had a solid dance party from 1 to 3-ish. Time Has Come to Day is an italo track by Bobby Davenport that was recently repressed by Flexx.be:

As far as keeping a car in nyc...maybe look on craigslist for parking if you can afford it? Otherwise, you can always take the 7 to Sripraphai.
Don't know about the records...you mean visit the guys collection or the 12"s you grabbed? I'm broke from my recent trips to California and Pittsburgh. Did you know Pittsburgh is a much more beautiful city than any I saw in California?

dan (or other people that drive/know nj) - what is the best way to get to I-80 W from south brooklyn? last time i took the holland tunnel which was awesome at 5:30 am but really, reallly bad on sunday evening. would you go through staten island or the bronx instead?
― bell_labs, Monday, 15 October 2007 15:16 (eighteen years ago)
good question
― sexyDancer, Monday, 15 October 2007 15:18 (eighteen years ago)
if you can avoid sunday evening travel, do so.
we usually take the lincoln tunnel, but that's not really convenient to south brooklyn. we did the gwb once and really regretted it.
― lauren, Monday, 15 October 2007 15:34 (eighteen years ago)
i'll probably come back saturday evening around 11, which should be even worse i'm sure.
― bell_labs, Monday, 15 October 2007 15:37 (eighteen years ago)
It looks like you can go through the bronx but I don't think that will save you any time and it'll take as long to get there.
I'd say look for alternate routes to the Holland and give yourself enough time. When I was living in South Brooklyn, I used to take the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the west side highway to the Holland, therefore not having to go through Canal or Delancey. But even with that you can often hit traffic at the end. Likewise, the last time we did it from the Williamsburg Bridge (from queens we take the BQE to the Williamsburg) instead of going accross Delancey and getting stuck in traffic on Broome, we cut up north, took houston accross and came down 7th ave and had less traffic that way.
― dan selzer, Monday, 15 October 2007 15:38 (eighteen years ago)
the worst part was getting to the holland tunnel from nj going back into the city. i seriously moved about 1 mile over one hour.
― bell_labs, Monday, 15 October 2007 15:43 (eighteen years ago)
There's a secret there but I can never remember it, it involves driving through Jersey City. Luckily I'm often with my sister.
― dan selzer, Monday, 15 October 2007 15:48 (eighteen years ago)
h88888 lincoln tunnel
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Monday, 15 October 2007 15:52 (eighteen years ago)
any word?
― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Monday, 22 October 2007 18:19 (eighteen years ago)
Oh, maybe you get off the highway earlier and drive north on Grove St/Manila and make a right just before the tunnel booths.
― Laurel, Monday, 22 October 2007 18:33 (eighteen years ago)
i came through at like 11:00 am sunday instead of the afternoon and there was very little traffic.
― bell_labs, Monday, 22 October 2007 18:47 (eighteen years ago)
(i actually beat my mapquest time by 20 minutes, i'm proud.)
― bell_labs, Monday, 22 October 2007 18:54 (eighteen years ago)
Trying to nail down a new location right now. It's not easy 5 days before a big party night like the weekend before halloween.
― dan selzer, Monday, 22 October 2007 19:29 (eighteen years ago)
i did bqe to triboro to bruckner to gw bridge to i-80 a couple weeks ago and it took no time at all.

― Catsupppppppppppppp dude 茄蕃, Monday, 22 October 2007 21:19 (eighteen years ago)
i didn't stop for snacks or bathroom. and i drove 85 mph most of the way.
― bell_labs, Monday, 22 October 2007 21:21 (eighteen years ago)
I'd drive fast if I had to pee that badly too

due to unfortunate and unforseen events, we've had to move the Haunted Disco party to a new spot, luckily we got one of my favorites. The awesome back room at Union Pool. So without further ado...
Come to the Haunted Disco! The ghost of Dan Selzer, Jeremy Campbell's re-animated corpse and Matt Radune's posessed body DJ at the haunted disco, aka the back room of Union Pool. Scary costumes recommended...Velvet Vampire? Xanadu Zombie? Leisure Suit Lycanthrope? Studio 54 Slasher? George Hamilton in Love at First Bite? Pretty Scary!
This is our third annual halloween party/birthday party for my favorite person ever Nicole. You may remember Wild Kingdom at M Shanghai last year, or Disco in Space at Capones 2 years ago. You may not because you were too drunk. Whatever, this will be a lot of fun. A nice space and good music and great DJs and stupid costumes. what more do you want? Please spread the word and tell friends so people know not to go to the previous location and that this is where the fun will be.
Saturday October 27th 10pm Union Pool Back Room 484 Union Ave and Meeker, Williamsburg Brooklyn Take the L train to Lorimer or the G to Metropolitan.

awesome

I'm a disco ghost. I don't think anyone will get it though. I look like a member of the polyphonic spree.
― dan selzer, Sunday, 28 October 2007 00:06 (eighteen years ago)
nobody got the costume. And it was too hot to wear the sheet so I just had on white pants a white shirt open wide and a fake gold libra medallion. One person said I looked like a sleazy israeli cult leader.
Pretty interesting night...not my best djing ever, and there were some troublesome technical issues, but I had a great time, thanks to the few of you who came out.
― dan selzer, Sunday, 28 October 2007 08:55 (eighteen years ago)
I saw at least two "owen wilson in the darjeeling limited"s
fun night
― dmr, Sunday, 28 October 2007 16:43 (eighteen years ago)
I liked your DJing just fine, Dan, in fact every time I came back into the room I was happy if it was you onstage and sad if it was not. I suppose even sleazy cult leaders deserve bar breaks, though.
― Laurel, Sunday, 28 October 2007 17:53 (eighteen years ago)
I saw a Rorschach from the Watchmen outside on his way to a different party. Geeky but my favorite costume of the night.
― dan selzer, Sunday, 28 October 2007 17:57 (eighteen years ago)
i wanted to come to this but I had to work and my stupid asthma+cold=evil. BUT MICH4EL CER4 AKA G3ORGE MICH4EL CAME INTO MY WORK AND I WANTED TO TOUCH THE TOGGLES ON HIS COAT.
― Yerac, Sunday, 28 October 2007 18:10 (eighteen years ago)
I wish George Michael came to my work. And I work from home.
Man, is something serious going around? I keep asking my girlfriend why she's been stuffing cotton balls up my nose and down my throat while I sleep every day for the last two weeks. I thought it was allergies untill one night last week when I started sweating and shivering at the same time, then went to bed and had really strange dreams and woke up with the sheets all off the mattress. I've been taking a little claritan, a little sudafed, a little of that stuff they use to replace sudafed, lots of tylenol, orange juice, tea, and I still feel like a truck ran me over.
Another good friend didn't make it last night because of a "head cold".

I HATE DRINKING THE RECOMMENDED DOSAGE OF ROBITUSSIN DM.
― Yerac, Sunday, 28 October 2007 23:06 (eighteen years ago)
Laurel, did you really refer to Chinese medicine as "kooky?" 'Cause that's like what they use in China and people do get sick there. I find it to be a much more holistic way of looking at ailments. Very in depth, too. From my experience, western medicine is often stuck in treating symptoms rather than root causes of things.

what a tard
I was supposed to DJ this friday at 200 Orchard but they lost their liquor license so the party's been moved last minute to Studio B. So what do you get when you put 4 totally overexposed local DJs in one of brooklyn's larger dance music venues? THE BEST TIME EVER! Please come and spread the word. I've got new records. And old ones.

Ooo nice!
When are you going on, Dan?
― BleepBot, Thursday, 8 November 2007 01:24 (eighteen years ago)
I have no idea, but I should get a decent billing. There will probably be some tag-teaming as well, I had a great time djing with Jacques back during the Studio B pre-opening after the Black Dice/Oneida show.
